What are the chances this year is Kirk’s last year? Any chance Woods comes back as the head coach after one year away?

whether this year, or next, or beyond, I can’t wait for Kirk to personally appoint a successor who will won’t make him him look offensively incompetent.

Assuming he continues to win at a 2/3 rate or thereabouts, I think he goes until he’s at least 75. No cardio-metabolic disease or bad health habits. Still mentally sharp. No apparent outside passions/things he’d rather be doing. Seems to have adapted to the portal era and found a workable niche within it (focusing on unearthing gems in D1-AA and below).

As I’ve said before, I have no problem trying to sustain the culture, consistency and results he’s given us after he’s gone. Cheaper and leaves more $ for the roster. If it doesn’t work, pull the plug quickly and move on.

counterpoint: he doesn’t think scoring points is that big of a deal.

I'm not disputing that Kirk has a blind spot for Bridawg or ineffective offensive scheming generally, but it's not currently a huge issue in the program and we don't know that a Kirk-preferred successor would share it (unless, of course, that successor were somehow Bridawg, which isn't realistic).
