I think the most excited I was about Iowa basketball outside of the mid 90s was when Alford was recruiting Beas Hamga, Emmanuel Negedu, Lewis Jackson, David Lightly, Evan Turner, Jake Kelley, Dairese Gary, some Malik guy from Pennsylvania etc. There was a random Canadian, Nathan Skinner in the class with Tony Freeman and Kurt Looby.

Then he missed the NIT and left before getting fired. Such a shitty coach.

E’Twaun Moore too. That was a wild time. He went from getting guys like Ben Rand, Seth Gorney and JR Angle, then he booted Lansing and Jones, brought in Neal and we were suddenly shady as hell. Got Tyler Smith and were in the mix for all the Indiana Elite guys and the crooked host program after he gave Adams a job.

Kakert always got fed info from those guys and actually had scoops on baseball recruiting. He was traveling all the time to AAU tournaments.

Patrick McCaffery and began his career at Iowa in the 2019-2020 season. He's still playing college basketball in the year 2025. CJ Fredrick began his career at Iowa in the 2018-2019 season. He's still playing college basketball in the year 2025.

Keegan Murray began his career at Iowa in the 2020-2021 season. He is about to complete his 3rd year in the NBA.

I still think the most incredible stat I have ever seen recently is that 6'9'' athletic SF Patrick McCaffery played 31 games and 700+ minutes at Iowa in the 2023-2024 season and grabbed a grand total of FIVE offensive rebounds.

That is fucking mind blowing. PG Dasonte Bowen played less than half the minutes and grabbed 3x as many.

Carter Kingsbury has played only 161 minutes this year and has 5 offensive rebounds.

Actually, even more amazing is that Patrick McCaffery has averaged 0.8 fouls per game for his career. 154 games played, 122 fouls.

He's the biggest pussy in the history of college basketball.

It was a different era and yes Reggie Evans was a freak, yada yada. But these two guys started at Iowa at the same position, and one averaged as many ORebs as the other got in numerous years of starter minutes.
