I’m embarrassed to say I haven’t watched a minute of the game. Olympic figure skating recap has been on. That’s what this team has done to me

I still think this program is going to be damn good next year and going forward, but this team simply sucks so much on defense they can't overcome it. Their shooting is also poor from three and kills them on the road.

With that said, the next 4 games are pretty much the opposite of what the last 4 games were and they will actually be possibly favored in 3 of them. Maybe there is a positive end to the season coming, but either way Fran has a lot of work to do.

He needs to retain his core 4 players, dump the complete garbage on the second half of the roster and try to grab an impact juco or transfer in the spring. Need to bring in a coach to help with defense.

This is going to be an unpopular opinion but I don’t think I’d care if Cook left. In today’s basketball he’s a 5, but so is Garza.

I’m not comparing them as players or teams but look at Purdue the last 3 years. They were ok with Hammons, Biggie and Haas. Won the Big Ten but were not elite with Haas and Biggie and are now elite with just Haas. Reason being they have surrounded Haas with shooters which gives him much more room to operate. Iowa had Garza, Cook and Pemsl on the floor together at one point. Think about that.

Same thing happened with Iowa after White graduated. One of the best players to ever play here graduated and the team got better because the spacing improved once Uthoff was at the 4. Nunge has shown flashes of being a Uthoff type player and him at the 4 with either Cook or Garza down low is better long term than home at the 3 Cook at the 4 and Garza at the 5.

Again, Iowa made 3 less shots, made 2 more free throws and lost by 15 because they were out scored by 30 behind the 3 point line. This roster is terrible for how basketball is being played today.

Last night was the 4th best defensive game they've had in Big Ten play at 1.10 points per possession. But two of the other three games were in December with PSU and IU. So it was the 2nd best since the new year, only behind Wisconsin.

2nd worst offensive game in Big Ten play, only ahead of at PSU. Turned it over on 24% of possessions. 2nd lowest offensive rebound percentage of any game this year, only ahead of UAB. Fewest 3's attempted all year and 2nd fewest makes. Shot well from 2 and the line though.

Also with regards to Jordan and how that game seemed so weird for him:
-His usage percentage was 9%. That's the lowest of his career. Closest was his first game ever vs. Kennesaw St. last year. He's averaging 20% (about average) and has only had four under 15% this year. Usage is just the amount of possessions "ended" by a player with a shot, assist, turnover, getting to the line, etc.
-He only attempted three 3's in 34 minutes. That's only happened two other times, in games where he played 24 and 25 minutes.
-He only attempted two 2's which came close together. At PSU was the only other time that's happened in 2018.

Knocked down that 3 early in the first few minutes then hit his two 2's between 13:47 and 12:55 of the 2nd half. Then had about 30 minutes where he was just there. Really weird game for him.

Of course it could. The tournament is fairly random and teams with all kinds of profiles make the Sweet 16. Last year USC was 38th in offense, 91st in D and lost 2nd round by 4. Several teams below 85 made it as an at large. Many advanced deep with really good offenses. Two years ago AND was 9th in O, 158 in D and made the elite 8 as a 6 seed.
