I like you Doug, but I’m pretty sure you post the same thing every game thread
I would pretty much hope so. Feelings can swing wildly during the season, but overall it isn't like any single game or even series of games change anything.I like you Doug, but I’m pretty sure you post the same thing every game thread
Why are you asking questions to something you already know? How exactly does a coach dump kids on scholarship?
How the fuck do you draw that to scale? If there's been precedent, let me know. Why are you asking questions to something you already know? How exactly does a coach dump kids on scholarship?

There's a fine line between a couple postseason come-to-Jesus talks and cleaning house, i.e. retaining 4 players from a million man rotation. Have you become delusional from your own retarded propaganda? This is a coach who regularly gives minutes to Brady, Wagner, and Kriener. Are you an infantile child that has never followed college athletics? How the fuck do you draw that to scale? Every coach in college athletics has a post season meeting with each member of the team. The coach lets the player know where they stand. If they tell the player they are progressing and he sees them playing, they usually stay. If they are told that he doesn't ever see them playing again and maybe it is best if they look at other options, they usually leave.
I think if you're a grown man watching figure skating, you have other issues besides the success of your favorite college basketball team.Just checked the score and see we are down 58-42. Sounds about right
I’m embarrassed to say I haven’t watched a minute of the game. Olympic figure skating recap has been on. That’s what this team has done to me
lolI still think this program is going to be damn good next year and going forward, but this team simply sucks so much on defense they can't overcome it. Their shooting is also poor from three and kills them on the road.
With that said, the next 4 games are pretty much the opposite of what the last 4 games were and they will actually be possibly favored in 3 of them. Maybe there is a positive end to the season coming, but either way Fran has a lot of work to do.
He needs to retain his core 4 players, dump the complete garbage on the second half of the roster and try to grab an impact juco or transfer in the spring. Need to bring in a coach to help with defense.

Good luck with Fran bringing in a defensive specialist, you unicorn fucker.
This is what we call the ol' escape hatch and waive the white flag because answering honestly would be too much for the alcoholic mind to bear.Doug just loves this "damn good" team with Conner and Joe next year. Our magical fairy-dust soon-to-be defensive specialist will have JBo, Moss, Baer and Cook playing D like oppressive stink on shit. Garza will have even surgically removed his ice skates.
They'll no doubt be better (god willing, how can they not?) but take a step or two back from your depression-cognitive-dissonance on the '17/18 Hawkeyes.
Yeah, I think every coach wants their teams to outscore the opposition.Even with an 8 year sample, Doug still has a hard time understanding that Fran's teams want to outscore the opposition. Simple as that.
It's Fran's mojo, Sleeping Beauty.
Learn doug, Fucking LEARN you meatheaded ingrate.

Shoosh away young gentleman. You’re late to jerking off to Joe scoring 36 against a bunch of awkward Pollyannas. Can we go back to how you in your drunken state thought I expected Fran to only keep 4 players on the roster? That was pretty funny.
Right, because Joe never plays against the top competition in the country and dominates there as well.Shoosh away young gentleman. They’ll outscore some good teams and I’ll be the first to celebrate that. You’re crazy if you think I want anything else. They’re still a middle of the pack team next year, at best. Would love to be proven wrong.Iowa being good next year is going to be sooooo fun to rub in @Hawk&Balls and @howler 's face along with many others.

Quit moving the goal posts. Go out with some friends to a bar with some good LOUD music, take some MDMA, meet a lover, and get that Iowa basketball stick out of your ass.No I didn't and you know I didn't. I didn’t say anything about Iowa not being goodIowa being good next year is going to be sooooo fun to rub in @Hawk&Balls and @howler 's face along with many others.
Yes. My wife wanted to and I was pretty sure it would get me laid if I obliged rather than cursing at the TV and complaining about the hawks with my internet friendsI think if you're a grown man watching figure skating, you have other issues besides the success of your favorite college basketball team.Just checked the score and see we are down 58-42. I have a buddy who wants to start over with just weiskamp, Garza and bohannon. Doesn’t care about any other player or coachThis is going to be an unpopular opinion but I don’t think I’d care if Cook left. In today’s basketball he’s a 5, but so is Garza.
I’m not comparing them as players or teams but look at Purdue the last 3 years. They were ok with Hammons, Biggie and Haas. Won the Big Ten but were not elite with Haas and Biggie and are now elite with just Haas. Reason being they have surrounded Haas with shooters which gives him much more room to operate. Iowa had Garza, Cook and Pemsl on the floor together at one point. Think about that.
Same thing happened with Iowa after White graduated. One of the best players to ever play here graduated and the team got better because the spacing improved once Uthoff was at the 4. Nunge has shown flashes of being a Uthoff type player and him at the 4 with either Cook or Garza down low is better long term than home at the 3 Cook at the 4 and Garza at the 5.
Again, Iowa made 3 less shots, made 2 more free throws and lost by 15 because they were out scored by 30 behind the 3 point line. This roster is terrible for how basketball is being played today.
He's had 5 top 80 defenses at Iowa. That would be enough to have next year's team in the tournament if they're at the offensive level of the last 2 years.Fran’s pushing 60 but his defensive philosophy is going to magically bloom next year.
Would a defense ranked 70-80 and an offense ranked 30-40 ever get us in the sweet 16?He's had 5 top 80 defenses at Iowa. That’s because everyone is out of position.the poor defense seems to be compounded by poor rebounding on the defensive end.
yeah I dunno what the stats say but I listen to the games mostly on radio and it seems like an inordinate amount of time they say someone has a wide open shot they miss and they still get the offensive rebound. If you aren't close enuff to guard someone, least you could box out. That’s because everyone is out of position.the poor defense seems to be compounded by poor rebounding on the defensive end.

Dude we have an example on the team RIGHT NOW of this happening in Dom. He benched a key role player for his senior year because he sucked. What possibly makes you think he won’t do it again? There's a fine line between a couple postseason come-to-Jesus talks and cleaning house, i.e. retaining 4 players from a million man rotation. Why are you ignoring the fact that fran has had several teams with top decile defensive efficiency?Fran’s pushing 60 but his defensive philosophy is going to magically bloom next year.
I think that’s a product of having mailed it in, but you are right.yeah I dunno what the stats say but I listen to the games mostly on radio and it seems like an inordinate amount of time they say someone has a wide open shot they miss and they still get the offensive rebound. Well, that and the last 4 games were against 3 of the Top 20 teams in the country and at Penn State who is tournament level.I think that’s a product of having mailed it in, but you are right.yeah I dunno what the stats say but I listen to the games mostly on radio and it seems like an inordinate amount of time they say someone has a wide open shot they miss and they still get the offensive rebound. 18%, his lowest of the Big Ten.@HiawathaHawk what about Cook? First half it didn’t even seem like he touched the ball and was also just floating.
Of course it could. The tournament is fairly random and teams with all kinds of profiles make the Sweet 16. Last year USC was 38th in offense, 91st in D and lost 2nd round by 4. Several teams below 85 made it as an at large. Many advanced deep with really good offenses. Two years ago AND was 9th in O, 158 in D and made the elite 8 as a 6 seed.Would a defense ranked 70-80 and an offense ranked 30-40 ever get us in the sweet 16?He's had 5 top 80 defenses at Iowa.
