What he’s too fucking stupid to realize, is that if they breakaway, it’s not going to be 20 teams. It’ll be about 48 teams and they won’t be part of it. They’ll have plenty of teams for the other sports and will happily pay the lower level teams in buy games to fill their schedule.

Here's a cleaner quote of his comments:

Iowa State AD Jamie Pollard on SEC/Big Ten threatening to break away to form its own league:

“Let them break away. We should break away from them. Let them go, but they have to go in all their sports & see how fun it is to play baseball, softball & track when it’s just the 20 of you. That’s what I think we should do, but I'm one person & that’s probably a little more draconian. That’s how I feel about it. Like, let’s quit talking about it. Quit threatening. Go do it. But if you’re going to do it, you don’t get to just do it in football & then keep all your other sports w/us. No, take them all. See how fun it is.”

“just the 20 of you” was tremendously retarded. we’ll take whatever ACC and Big 12 teams we want (it won’t be many of the latter). The final number will be somewhere in the 40s. It will most certainly not include ISU.

The podunk schools are going to be pushing hard for state taxpayer bailouts for their shitty school’s athletic departments. Will Governor #Sand support welfare for ISU?

I, for one, would have a ton of fun if we never had to play Iowa State, or for that matter hear a peep from their stupid fucking fan base, ever again.

I don't want to be in a 40-50 team league without the ability to play the 'lower level.' It sounds like a recipe for 6-7 wins a year for Iowa. Better matchups, of course, but I guess I'd rather be a fan of NDSU than Northwestern, basically.

You don’t think lower level teams like Akron, Arkansas State, NIU, Iowa State and UNI wouldn’t line up for a few million dollars to get on the “non conference” schedule of the big league teams?

Then what does that solve re: ISU?

I was largely writing in response to @fossilhawk 's post. If even one of your 12 regular season games are against a non power 2 team, is there even the slightest bit of doubt as to who that would be?

None of this is even vaguely coherent, and Pollard isn’t smart enough to know it.

There is no “break away.” You have closed professional sports leagues because they’ve been granted an anti-trust exemption, and there is no world where the B10+SEC+selected school get such an exemption. There are too many yokels in states that would be excluded to permit it ever passing.

So any “break away” would have to be open to anyone that could meet defined criteria, and it’s real damn hard to see how they define criteria that brings in the schools they want, and leaves out the schools they don’t. It’s why you have all this FCS garbage clinging to the ass end of FBS; you have to give them a path or it’s an anti-trust violation.

THIS is the end state. Maybe ISU goes broke and has to slash expenses, which means leaving the Big XII, but two leagues taking 75% of the money and 75% of the playoff spots is the end condition.

They can form any league they want if they’re no longer part of the schools. Pay the schools for use of name, facilities etc.
I think that’s what ultimately happens & no more subsidizing the Mac + Iowas Sts of the world

No, they can’t. Being a part of a school has nothing to do with anti-trust.

Other teams would be winning 2-3 games, it'll be like the NFL. A winning record will be considered solid and we'll love seeing real meaningful games every single week
