Pharty is just a bad writer. ...

The problem with that accusation is that I haven’t been on a Hawkeye message board for years, probably at least five years.

It’s just not my thing.

I was also accused of lifting the information from Wikipedia, which unbeknownst to me, had Philbin listed as the Iowa offensive coordinator in his profile.

The problem with that accusation is that I was unaware that Philbin’s Wikipedia page had been edited, and I would never use Wikipedia as a source.

It’s so easy to get on to Wikipedia to edit copy that Jim Hunter from KCJJ radio opened an account Saturday morning and then removed the part about Philbin being the Iowa offensive coordinator.

I was also accused of reporting hearsay and speculation, and spreading gossip, and that it was poor journalism.

The problem with that accusation is that I could have easily posted an article on Hawk Fanatic and teased fans by saying that I had a hot take about the offensive coordinator search to drive traffic.

This is awful. My god. I've seen a few tweets from him in the past couple days. He seems entirely too sensitive to be on that platform.

He writes all his stuff in one sentence paragraphs. He's a dipshit and I'm pretty sure he's blocked me on twitter or else I'd continue to let him know.
I looked down upon those that he hasn't blocked.

I don't even care that he smells bad in person, his writing is atrocious. Amazing he ever got a job in journalism.

I think most people, including myself, would be disappointed with the Philbin selection, but the idea that he wouldn’t way better than Brian is absurd. I think it would be a noticeable and immediate upgrade.

The main issue (aside from a low effort milquetoast hire) is they still wouldn’t have a real QB coach with the staff the way it is now. They’d probably have to shitcan the Oline coach to make room and let Joe/Kirk take care of that position.

Did anybody say this? Because I want their head on a pike if so.

The Philbin/Budmayr route would be an upgrade from Brian (obviously) but it's the comfortable and safe hire.

it seems like many good qb coaches were nerds and marginal players. Also, he’s being compared to Brian.
OTOH, the QBs he’s tutored here have all sucked taint, and the failed QB he had at CSU immediately went to James Madison and excelled. Plus, he recruited Bacon Hill twice. He’s terrible.

Halo insiders screwed the pooch on this one.
This seems like a suboptimal situation 14 days before the game. He's out interviewing instead of getting ready for Tennessee and being at practice. As much as it's tempting to say that we'd love it for him to not be there, not knowing who is calling plays is an issue. This isn't Madden and it's not something another person prepares for starting 3 days before a game against an SEC opponent.

I like how you are assuming Buttmuncher isn’t one of the three

It's ridiculous, and yet another reason why this thing should not have happened from the beginning.

I’d much rather have him get the absolute best OC possible than worry about a fucking bowl game

It’s the Iowa way.

Right, because in any other place in the country, the OC would have not been allowed to stay with the team post-firing, and someone else would've taken over play calling duties. He gets to decide if he'll show up for the bowl game or not for one reason.

That's on Beth.
