Syracuse, N.Y. — Tim Lester is a man who values efficiency. The Syracuse offensive coordinator believes overall success can be improved by emphasizing minor aspects of his unit's performance in practice.

Ohhh….just need to clean some things up

I don’t think any of us dipshits have the first fucking clue who would make a good offensive coordinator at Iowa. Anyone not named Kirk’s son, Kirk’s son, Brian Ferentz will be a MASSIVE improvement.
True but reading about Johns at least makes me believe he would be a credible hire and wouldn’t complain about it. He has a proven track record

if we hired Johns immediately after elko went to A&M, it would seem like a different situation to me than hiring him now after multiple rumored whiffs.

but put into the simple perspective of his resume vs what he is replacing - seems like a great hire

We call Greg Davis, GDGD. He was a Broyles winning, national champion offensive coordinator who made one of the best offenses in Iowa history, yet the vast majority here thinks he’s not just bad at the job, but terrible at it. WE are the dipshits. That said, Kirk’s son, Brian Ferentz was an abomination, hopefully everyone understands that.

Watching some Kevin Johns interviews tonight for the first time, I have to say that Kirk would be an idiot not to select him. He's a football junkie. He knows the quarterback position and how to coach it, which Iowa hasn't had in years. And he's not a pompous asshole. Kevin comes across as a solid man, down to earth, relatable, and a human being who cares about people.

Looking at yardage, 2014 was at 400, 3rd in the Ferentz era. 2015 at 386- 5 or 6th. 2013 at 377- maybe 8th. No 5th year senior healthy pro line or 2008-09 caliber line. No year of a healthy line, other than maybe '13. No DJK, McNutt, Solomon, Brown, Jones, Hill on the outside. Good backs in '15-16, but no Greene or Lewis (or Russell or Albert Young, in terms of durability). Did have good TEs, but lost Duzey to a career ender and Kittle for half a year. One QB pupil is still in the NFL, one made rosters or practice squad for a couple of years, one left and threw for 4000 yards. Another left and threw for 3400. Fat Nate got looks in camp and maybe made a PS (?) for a while.

But there was that 3rd and 5 meme....

Yeah, he seems made to order. Likes QBs with escapability and who can throw into windows. (You listening, Poholsky?). But will Kirk be "comfortable"?

I’ve watched a ton of MAC games and I’d say that’s actually an insult to MAC level receivers.
we are so bad at recruiting AND developing receivers that I am jealous of former players that transferred down a level and proceeded to get better than anyone we have.

Why would any WR with any talent at all want to come to Iowa? For the exhilarating 3 yard sideline routes?
Calvin Johnson went to play for a college team who ran the option, so weird decisions are made. Just not in our favor, it seems.

Calvin Johnson played at Georgia Tech from 2004-2006. Paul Johnson took over at Georgia Tech for the 2008 season.

Well it’s certainly less intriguing when you put it that way.
Demayrius Thomas stayed for two years when Johnson took over. Still managed to put up 1,100 yards and 8 TDs his last year though.

Ihmir had 700 yards in ‘19. Vandeberg got 700 in ‘15. Best we’ve had since McNutt had 1,100 in 2011. Back in that KOK era it was actually common to have 2 WR at 500+ or even 700+. Since, we’ve had two total in 12 years.
