Stockholm Syndrome.
That’s what WE have.Stockholm Syndrome.
I think that tells you how abysmal the QB room is currently.Ball security is really important yet he continued to trot Bacon the turnover eating and producing machine out there.
Don't you fucking start.I think that tells you how abysmal the QB room is currently.
Right. Somehow we’re all supposed to just accept at face value that offenses that aren’t bad turn the ball over?Hopefully on Tuesday some reporter asks it more directly. The question isn't "are turnovers good?" The question is, "will you allow an OC to run primarily out of the shotgun?"
Kirk 15.0 next year.We need Kirk 6.9
Any QB the past 5 years could have been respectable with competent coaching. Except for Deacon.I think that tells you how abysmal the QB room is currently.
Kirkzilla Minus OneIts more like Kirk minus 2.0

Even Woody Hayes in his "three yards and a cloud of dust" days threw the ball, and it was more than five yards downfield. It's fine if you don't want to turn the ball over. But it's a problem if your fear of a turnover is so much that you don't want to try and score.
Averages the 33rd percentile, great.
Average percentile ranking on offense in the eleven years Iowa had a .750 or better winning percentage: 29.90%.
I wonder if there's anything we could learn from those outliers (2002, 2005, 2006)?
What was it?I wonder if there's anything we could learn from those outliers (2002, 2005, 2006)?
Hint: It isn't turnovers
A QB that's not a Statue. Aka a lil backyard Football at times. What was it?
That 2006 season was incredibly disappointing. Started 4-0, and faced #1 Ohio State with GameDay in Iowa City only to get blown out. Destroyed Purdue the next week to go 5-1, then lose 5 of their next 6 games, including to a poor Indiana team, a horrible Northwestern team, and a mediocre Minnesota team to finish 6-6. Should have defeated Texas in the bowl game, but blew a lead to finish 6-7 for the season.I wonder if there's anything we could learn from those outliers (2002, 2005, 2006)?

This right here. He gave a coach speak answer as you would expect. So hit him with specifics and see if he can back pedal out or give any insight into what he actually thinks. I don’t expect he will answer any differently but at least put some pressure on the guy. It’s time he feels some I think.Right. Somehow we’re all supposed to just accept at face value that offenses that aren’t bad turn the ball over?
It’s perfectly reasonable for a coach to have a philosophy about whether he wants to hurry up or slow down the clock. I want someone to ask Kirk if things like the ridiculously short average depth of target on pass attempts, or specific run blocking schemes are something he’s intentionally doing.
An illegal formation penalty negated a TD that would have put Iowa up 21-3. Drew Tate running towards the end zone on the catch with horns down was awesome. That 2006 season was incredibly disappointing. /FWIW, peace.
Did you misspell game, or forget a semicolon after receiver? An illegal formation penalty negated a TD that would have put Iowa up 21-3. Drew Tate running towards the end zone on the catch with horns down was awesome.
I thought Andy Brodell was going to be an NFL receiver after that came.
How do you propose that they "pin him down" on that issue?Kirk needs to be pinned down on his flexibility with the X's & O's of the offense. The Iowa sports media hasn't dug much further than points and yards, probably because most of them don't know the X's & O's and are afraid Kirk will expose that.
Right. This was my question - there's a huge difference between a head coach having a philosophy on things like pace of play and a coach dictating blocking schemes and route trees to a coordinator, and all of the conversation on this has treated it all as one thing.Kirk needs to be pinned down on his flexibility with the X's & O's of the offense. Don't tell me what to do.Stop it.
BREAKING: we aren’t.For those that are interested:
Based on today alone, I’m betting he’s roughly 73 times more intelligent than Brian when it comes to that.Lester certainly comes across as more knowledgeable about running an offense than Brian.
