Even if your assertion is correct (it certainly seems made up), shouldn't this only matter a fraction when assessing his defense? He's not good at closing out, frequently in the wrong position, etc. That doesn't have much to do with establishing a wide base.

And, if it is 100% his hips, this is Big Ten Basketball. His offense certainly does not outweigh his poor defense, and unfortunately he shouldn't get as much playing time if that's the case. LOL that you think people are making fun of Patrick due to physical limitations from his cancer. Come on dude.

the width or narrowness of a player's hip bones has little, if anything, to do with how he can set his feet and maintain position.

that's going to be gluteal and core strength, the adductors, and abductors.

pat's a shitty defender because he has shitty technique. he may also be weak from the mid-thigh to the waist (basically everything you strengthen with a dead lift -- he's had a few years to work on his strength...but this is Iowa Basketball, after all...).

but mostly because he is really shitty at zone and man.

michael cooper was a fucking twig...and bird said he was the toughest defender he faced
