Can I agree with this 100% and still think Hubbard’s “I’m not doing anything for my college until this gets addressed” on Twitter is really fucking stupid and juvenile and a terrible precedent to set for how we respond to these types of disagreement?
Thank you!

Questions for you:

Who makes the determination that someone lacks integrity or is a bad actor?

Is it always black and white on when someone is behaving poorly or might there be some gray area?

What is the role of due process in the cancel culture?
Good questions.

1. Depends on the structure of the organization in question. Could be a Board of Directors, could be a Board of Regents, etc. Ideally all organizations would have written guidelines detailing impermissible behavior that would make this process simpler. That said, in my experience talking with people about the issues they've experienced in a workplace, these processes are often structured to protect management or the company, and people don't complain because they don't think they will be given a fair shake and that they will then be ostracized and held back in their career.

2. See the answer above. This is why it's important to have written guidelines. In talking to people who have been treated unfairly in the workplace, "gray area" is what has often let people get away with abusive behavior. Therefore gray areas should be avoided.

3. Everyone deserves due process and to have their side of the story told.

Would it make a difference if Hubbard had already addressed it personally with Gundy and the tweet was simply a way to address the issue publicly? Not sure if that happened, of course. If not, I agree.

Yes. Gundry being stupid here is mostly because the public call out was entirely predictable, regardless of its validity

You asked specifically about "cancel culture". Corporate D&I boards are absolutely not what people mean by cancel culture. LOL dude. That's like saying "What's the problem with toxic masculinity? I've been a member of the Elks for years and it's nothing like that!"
You misunderstood my post, likely because I didn't make my point clearly enough. I didn't mean it in the sense of "that's not the way we did it," because those are obviously two different things. What I meant to convey is that because of my experience, I regularly talked with and continue to talk with people who are involved in efforts to remove people in power who are very clearly abusive in their relationships with people and/or promote bigoted views or actions. In being privy to those efforts, my experience has been that the misguided efforts are far outweighed by the appropriate ones and the ones still needed.

But what you just highlighted is specifically the problem with cancel culture. Cancel culture says “Oh well, if I can bring down a Weinstein then it doesn’t matter if I unfortunately mistakenly ruined some lives. It was worth it.”

Opponents of cancel culture aren’t claiming that no legitimately bad people have ever been canceled. The problem is that it’s based on a mob mentality that takes away due process and creates an environment where an accusation ruins lives.
You make a good point.

I’m very, probably too, prone to giving up on people these days. But they make it so fucking easy.

Gundy and OSU don't have time for this shit. They're putting the whole issue to bed with a 50-second video on the same day. Change is coming to make it even better than it already is! Cool handshake/hug!

will be interesting to see where this leads for Wallace and BF. Talked to a longtime 4a coach yesterday who said Iowa really needs another Reese Morgan. Said most the coaches he knows don't care for Brian. "hes a kid who woke up on third base and is convinced he hit a triple. "

Iowa’s reputation of development and winning is so good and so much better than ISU that I’m not sure it is going to matter in-state until KF retires.

You’ve seen in state recruiting classes for Iowa this (2021) class, right? When did this coach say kids are going to start acting on this feeling?

Our HOA page currently has a discussion going about the family who intentionally hung an American flag upside down and then didn’t understand why her neighbors (including a marine/cop) were offended.

yes, you have the right to do what you want. You also willingly chose politics over being a good neighbor.
Your whole HOA page is always a shitshow. It's hilarious.

The entirety of my knowledge on OAN comes from the video LAX posted above, but from that, I would say that Gundy is at best a complete idiot for wearing that.

But can we pause for a second to discuss the decision to blast your coach on Twitter rather than handle that shit like a man and discuss with him personally?
But no one would know that he’s outraged if he spoke to Gundy privately. That’s the most important thing for everyone on Twitter to see.

Joly is such a little pansy, and Howe is just enabling him at this point.
There is going to be some pressure to fire BF. Chad Leistikow has already started. I think it's critical that the U of I stop the misguided effort to keep this story alive and instead let it fall off the front page.

Pressure from who? Not anyone that matters.

For what, kicking a goddamn trash can in a rage?

If that's our basis, then pretty much every one of us should be fired.

If the investigation uncovers more than this, then fine, look at letting Brian go. But a trash can?

At some point someone has to ask him how come he wasn't successful anywhere else
This same question should be asked of quite a few, starting with Wadley.

ok...so if Kirk is the only thing that kept you from the NFL...how come you couldn’t stick in the AAF or XFL?

bro, you got waived from an XFL team. Come the fuck on. Nobody “blackballed” you from the NFL.

I bolded the problem area. A thorough investigation is going to find something on everyone in any program. So they will absolutely find something on Brian. And regardless of what that something is for Brian, there will be people asking for his head. Read the Leistikow piece....he wants Brian gone and I expect Howe and others will join in.

I’m just annoyed that Wadley has chosen this route. He should be remembered as one of the most dynamic playmakers of the KF era. For games like Michigan in 2016 and the incredible ending against Iowa State in 2017

That 2016 Michigan games is one of the most impressive single game highlight films we’ve seen at Iowa

There is an article on Wadley's mom from a few years ago in a New Jersey paper. None of this should be surprising, she is the very definition of a narcissistic nightmare.
