The best thing that should happen out of this upcoming shit storm would be Garta getting fired. The worst thing that should happen out of this upcoming shit storm would be the athletic department eating a giant shit sandwich and reversing their dipshitted stance.
I still stand by lol'ing at giving the NIL anything and that the players don't need or deserve it, but this is the reality. Garta has done fucked up bad and he is going to have a shitty Christmas Eve.

I'm guessing that Garta thought he could do whatever he wanted to do and Brad/NIL collective would just take it and not make it public.

He forgot that they don't have to play by the rules that the Iowa media usually has to play by to keep their access and be bullied into silence. I love that he went public with it.

I honestly don't think he cares.

He's just cashing checks. When they stop isn't of much consequence to him at all.

He's a gutless goober.

Right. I hate all of this. But that’s no reason for Iowa to be idiots about it.

Iowa and others know the current situation is unsustainable and will come back to earth within one season.

Iowa realizes how stupid it is to be paying kids this money when they are going to have to re-recruit and pay everyone again every year.

Iowa knows that NIL lawsuits related to Title IX (and other things) are coming, which will also throttle back the current situation.

Iowa also knows that the current environment jeopardizes the long term finances of athletic departments, given that almost all debt is backed by facility and foundation revenue

Iowa has historically been a pioneer in equal rights in athletics.

I’ll more insight from Gary at dinner.

To summarize….Barta is ahead of the curve on this.

Replace “knows” and “realizes” w/ “speculates” or “is betting on” and you may have made an accurate observation.

It’s probably correct that universities can’t be directly involved with NIL w/o running afoul of Title IX but all you need to do is create a separate foundation that is “independent” but exists to support NIL fundraising. It’s how the catholic church now operates fundraising (because of the sex abuse lawsuits)

Not allowing The Swarm a table at the Hawkeye Huddle really brings a sensible chuckle. James Vandenberg’s mom was allowed a table when James was playing so that she could sell her arts and crafts.
Is this confirmed? I don’t think Vandenberg’s mom makes arts and crafts. I don’t think she does much of anything. Seems like fake news.

Wait, we’re expecting the Iowa media people like Rob Howe, The Gazette SJW dorks, et al who masturbated furiously over the medium steak / racism stuff to take a stance in opposition to something like “equality” and Title IX? Ok.
