I think it's time for everyone to admit the racism story was a load of shit. The culmination of washouts looking for an excuse for their failure, kids experiencing male discipline for the first time in their lives, and a virtue signaling media that really wanted to lead rather than report on a movement.
I don’t love Barry Garta. I just think he’s decent at his job, which is absorbing criticism for others.

I think it's time we had a conversation about Gary Barta possibly being a fucking idiot.
I mean, think about it, the Athletic Director and many of his staff are really just facilitators and fundraisers. The University of Iowa and athletics have multiple staffs of people that all they do is fundraise and likely are judged on exactly how much money they bring in. The entire system is set up to squeeze as many donations as possible out of fans and alumni. Seating, parking, access and more all tied to donations.

objectively isu has been much better at Football & Mens /Womens Hoops since pollard been in charge. he has given every indication that he cares about winning and will do everything he can to help the cause instead of just politicking and fundraising. he 'gets' that iowa is isu's superbowl and plays into their fanbase very well on this front. most of his high profile hires are seen as aggressive (not just 'safe plays). and seemingly isu fans have a lot higher regard for pollard than iowa fans due for barta.
Lol. Pollard is so infamously cheap that their very own beloved son, the Mayor of Ames Fred Hoiberg, walked out on them forever because Jamie refused to pay for an extra night of hotel rooms at a tournament and made them sleep in a hotel ballroom.
