FWIW he has tape against at least 3 OTs with first round buzz - Skoronski, Paris Johnson and Olu Fashanu (who is returning to Penn State). So scouts must see something in that film.
I think the tape on him at DE Vs DT is quite different. His DE tape is very very impressive. But he played a lot of snaps inside last year

I'm really excited about Van Ness' pro prospects. He has a well-developed lower body, with nice thick thighs and a muscular bum. He also possesses a well-built upper body, fantastic shoulders, and pecs that just bulge out of tight-fitting athletic gear

Dane Brugler of the Athletic has had Van Ness as a first rounder for a long time. Not surprised he’s get a first round grade.

Probably similar to Kittle where his best football is ahead of him in the pros. We saw glimpses of what he can do in college, but he was very effective when playing.

You’re a fucking moron.
I'd be happy to compare LVN's collegiate accomplishments to those of previous Hawkeyes that went pro early. But that would require a rational, rather than emotional, discussion. I don't think you're up for that.

His snap count and usage was really odd this year. Felt like he was constantly in last year bs this year where it seemed like he just got obvious passing down snaps.

At what point do teams stop recruiting a QB every season? With the portal you can grab one with playing experience any year you need one. Have one or two back ups, but if you're on your third or fourth string QB anyways your year is fucked as is.

The bigger thing is, high school kids are second class citizens going forward unless they are highly rated or a coaching staff is sure about you.

I would be pretty surprised if Van Ness ends up being a first round pick. Once NFL teams start falling in love with the underwear Olympics standouts, his good-not-great combine numbers and mediocre production will push him back to the mid-second round or later.

But half the reason he’s projected to be a 1st round pick is because of how they think he’ll perform at the underwear Olympics.

Holy shit, dude. The guy is the captain of the underwear olympics. It's one or the reasons why he is projected where he is.

Do some of you even watch Iowa football? Nearly every game they go on and on about Van Ness and how he's built like Hercules and they call him that and blah blah blah blah. It was on the level of the Aaron White practice facility story.

Then we have people that come on here and say that they don't think he will hold up at the underwear olympics and teams won't be impressed when that is the reason why he is getting projected there in the first place.

It's insane.

Yes, he looks like Hercules. I don’t think he is in that category athletically though. He’s more of a fluid athlete than he is an explosive one. AJE had way better burst off the line than Van Ness, and AJ ended up getting dinged for a perceived lack of athleticism.

He’s obviously got great length and strength, but don’t think he’s going to test like the athletic freaks that end up getting drafted in the first round with the type of production he has had thus far.

This is going to go great in our current mental health understanding sea change especially in young people.

Hey, dumbfuck. I don't care what the draft geeks are saying. We know they love workout warriors. They gave us "Looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane", after all.

The fact remains he didn't accomplish much at Iowa. One of the least accomplished early draft entrants the program has had.

He might be good in the NFL. He might be a bust. Whatever the case, that will be his legacy. Because there isn't one at Iowa.

“I don’t care what the draft dorks say,” he says in a discussion about why Van Ness left for the draft.

We have some very damaged people posting about Iowa football and they’re way past saving. Iowa could go 14-1 and lose the national title game next year and we’d be 50/50 on if it was “legitimate” or if we can truly be happy.
