I’m still very curious about that Kaleb Johnson post.

Ok, this was a different guy clearly. I just looked up the picture online and was not the guy I saw. Maybe an uncle or something?
He doesn’t have an uncle on his dad’s side. I’m not sure about his mom’s family.

I would be shocked if there was a WR that didn't hate playing for Brian. Maybe get 1 target a game with his shit offense
Kinda surprised we haven't seen some crazy ass routes ran by the WRs, trying to snag a few of all those balls meant for LaPorta.

"Petras drops back to pass, looking for his favorite target. He gets rid of it, and ... intercepted! No wait! That's an Iowa uniform. (WR) stole a target and created a reception for himself."

I think his Uncle on his mom's side is a big boy.
Clearly mistaken identity, but this guy was wearing something that would indicate him to be Tyler's Dad or at least a relative. His wife did look a bit like the pictures I have seen of Tyler's mother.

Bri and his daddy have both referred to the mobility of a QB as “running around”. KF said it about Labas when a reporter said the Labas considers himself as dual threat. He asked KF if he agreed. He said a bunch of shit and ended with “Yea, he’s running around out there.” It’s so telling to have them both make this type of comment. They truly believe a mobile QB is pointless. They are so behind the times and it’s maddening.
Assuming Kirk and Brian watched the Alabama/Tennessee game yesterday, after watching Bryce Young repeatedly extend plays with his scrambling ability, they’ll both point to Alabama’s loss as a reason to not recruit backyard style quarterbacks.

Again, all the poster pretending to be insiders on HawkeyeReport have been wrong when it comes to the QB situation, so take with a grain of salt.

Long story short, this guy's kid was at a baseball showcase with current Iowa pitchers. They were talking about how much Brecht dislikes Brian and how much the players dislike playing for him. They also mentioned Brian is very much against a QB change.

Now, is this something a WR would really know (I doubt Brian would openly go against his dad to the players), let alone a couple of guys that play baseball with said WR.

But I bet the players hate Brian. His demand perfection bullshit doesn't work when you are an incompetent entitled dipshit.
I have heard from a different source that the WR group all hates Kirk’s son, Brian Ferentz, the greasy fatass, and that Charlie Jones openly despised him before leaving.

If this is remotely true I would expect every receiver on our roster to be in the portal first chance. Guess we’ll see
i definitely expect the Jackson/Alec types to stay

I think the Charlie Jones situation should remind us all that we really have no idea what kind of talent Iowa currently has at the skills positions. Bruce could barely be a P5 type player or he could be fucking fantastic. Nobody is being used correctly or getting the looks/touches needed to accurately assess.

Would assume Keagan is done, Bruce can't be too happy being the official jet sweep decoy. Not sure how Brecht's scholarship situation is worked out.
I think two sport athletes have to be on full football scholarships. So it’s a pretty great deal for the baseball team right now. I assume if he quit football the baseball team would have to use a full ride on him.

Bruce is perfect for the jetsweep/slot role. However Iowa puts him outside....Iowa is so rigid in their offensive scheme they have no idea how to use the parts that are right in front of them. Bruce and Nico are the same type of players....

Best we can hope is that this abomination of a season forces Kirk to change his old, out of date, and frankly out of touch offensive philosophy.

Bri was the one that was supposed to force KF into a modern offense.

Is Iowa "not modern" or just bad?

It seems like other teams are able to run zone blocking run based offenses.

Iowa lost 2 receivers in '22 to the transfer portal after a 10-win season and one of them is likely a draft pick now. The other doesn't start but has posted better numbers than he did the previous two seasons at Iowa. In fact, his 23/170 stat line is better than our big play specialist, Bruce.

There's going to be a mass exodus this off-season. For as bad as our WR talent is, it's going to get much worse.

He absolutely should quit football if he's half as talented a pitcher as has been reported.

They were headed down that path in 2018 and 2019....they've gone backwards in terms on trying to be innovative on offense since 2020.
One wonders what happened in 2020.

Oh, right, we trotted out a QB who's better at playing acoustic guitar than playing football.

(To be clear, he sucks at guitar too.)

A good OC that understands how to attack and manipulate defenses can make almost any style of offense look good. A bad OC that doesn't understand how to do those things can make any offensive system look terrible.

In addition to his year and a half at Iowa, I watched Bruce play an entire season of HS football. In neither place did he demonstrate the big play explosiveness Charlie Jones did at Buffalo and Iowa.

Small and lacking breakaway speed isn’t a great P5 combo.

Yep. This season has sucked and it hasn’t even hit its low point yet

In Brians press conference didn't he make some backhanded comment about running the wildcat? I thought it was strange considering he's implemented the wildcat in the recent past (with minimal success).

I mean, I don't think the wildcat is the answer here..but doing something different, almost anything, is better than what we're currently seeing. We also saw some fairly innovative "trick" plays back in 17-19. How have we gone so horribly conservative and predictable in a short period of time?

It's crazy how many fans are still convinced he's good. Yeah, Spencer sucks but Bruce has had some brutal drops including one towards the end of the ISU game that could have made a difference. He also could have walked into the endzone if he didn't trip himself. He isn't the answer.

Iowa's never had great receivers but I don't know if it's ever been this bad. McNutt, DJK, Solomon, ISM, Brown, Hinkel, Tevaun, C.J. Jones, Brandon Smith, etc. were all at least P5-caliber. There isn't a single receiver on this team that was half as good as any of the aforementioned.
