7 unanimous AAs in 8 years. There were only 6 until 2013.

I wonder if the general nationalization of college football is leading to more consensus on voting. I don’t think anyone would question any of those guys. Just an incredible stretch after being so rare for decades. (Seems like six until 2013 was low, not seven since 2014 seeming high.)

So Rivals has a ranking system of players in the transfer portal. Checking the current top 100 players available, Iowa has now landed #72 & 74 in All and McNamara.

Other teams that have landed multiple top 100 transfers appear to be: UCLA, Florida State, Arkansas & SMU.

Even if this is all we get (which it won't be) that is more than I ever possibly would have expected for Iowa to bring in during these crazy times. Everyone whining and bitching about our success in the portal are pretty delusional.....just sayin.

Do they still have Bruce ranked higher than both?

My brain has some concern about whether it’s a long term positive or negative for iowa but there’s no reason to be anything but Bobsitive. Even if iowa ends up missing it’s more enjoyable in the interim than the alternative

If this is a serious inquiry, here are the ranked Iowa players transferring.

Jestin Jacbos #118
Keagan Johnson #128
Arland Bruce #198

They also have Graham Mertz ranked as #52 so that kinda kills some credibility lol
So they are basically just ranking them based on where they came out of high school, not based on any collegiate performance

Ah, that seems really silly.

One ranking did have Bruce higher than McNamara at one point, iirc.

Edit: It was 247.

At one point Bruce was ranked the 107th best transfer prospect. He’s dropped 91 spots to 198.

There are a billion receivers in the portal.

No, that's not what they're doing at all. For example #21 is a DL from Penn that didn't even have a Rivals profile as a high schooler. Was a zero star. #39 is a WR from Kent State who was a 2 star.

It's not about positivity in the present, it's about optimism for the future. If the present is shit, it's shit.

I have been as negative as anyone about Brian and Spencer's roles in the offense and about Kirk's influence on the offense. When I talk about Big Ten West defenses knowing exactly how to stop the stretch play and knowing exactly when we are running it that is as harsh of a condemnation of on-field offensive coaching as is possible.

I'm optimistic that Kirk knows that he needs a revamped offensive strategy controlled by a new OC. If he doesn't do that I will be as pissed as anyone. This team has a ton of talent and is primed for a quick turnaround if the right coaching and player moves are made to fill the gaps.

I was wondering if the staff would maybe encourage this in order to let Nwampka play.

I remember that Willis McGahee injury and how that impacted his draft status. Still had a good money making NFL career and of course that bowl game was the title game.

For faint of heart, do not click this one:

Curious why you think it makes sense? Do you think his performance at combine is going to be notably different if he prepares 4 months and 2 weeks rather than just 4 months?
You think playing in a scrimmage that means nothing will impact his draft status positively?

It’s the risk of significant injury part of it that makes it make sense. His draft stock takes a big hit if that happens.

In this particular instance, I don't anticipate that his stock would be impacted whether he plays or not. But pretending that he's going to improve his stock by adding 2 weeks to an 18 week training program is stupid.
