Toussaint is good defensively. Toussaint also gambles too much and isn't our best defender, but obviously better than bohannon. Toussaint only played 20 minutes.

Iowa was the better team tonight and has been a top team in the league over the last month plus. That’s damn impressive considering where this thing started in a November.

I like this team probably better than any of Fran’s teams when it comes to making a tournament run. May not happen, but this team is defending and has the athleticism at guard to compete. Major props to Perkins and Sandfort. So many guys who are playing their roles perfectly.

Beat Nebrantska/NW and Rutgers and lock up no worse than a 6 seed.

i appreciate your opinion, but i mentioned months ago that iowa was going to the sweet 16. Sorry to ruin the surprise. I’ll use a spoiler next time.

Exactly. The refs saying that is total bullshit. The truth of the matter is it’s hard to ref his games because they feel bad calling every foul he deserves.

Didn't stop them in the vs OSU game they lost about a week/10 days ago. Fucker was in early foul trouble and fouled out with 5-6 minutes left in the game.

But oh, that amazingly consistent* B10 officiating couldn't blow the whistle on the obviousness of the obviously obvious fouls in this one - aside from the one called on the Kris 3PA [that Kris missed all 3 FTAs after].

My favorite call of the night was awarding Illinois 3 free throws on a pump fake that caused an Iowa player to jump and land on the Illinois player. No shot was ever attempted, but he was behind the line so…

Yeah this was my only real beef with the officiating. This should have been a common foul just like the one on Keegan should have been a common foul. Both were obvious, but also before a shot was attempted. The rest of the officiating I chalk up to being on the road against a physical team - business as usual in the douche.

I'm not reading everything posted so far, but my thoughts are:
Perkins, Sandfort, and Kris are all playing really well.
Illinois is just over physical. They basically just force the refs to let things go.
Iowa's not really built for that, but they don't back down. I didn't see anyone shying away from contact tonight.
We had a chance to win this game at the end of the first half, just couldn't keep it 12+
Free throw misses are killer, but at this point what can you do?
bohannon being off makes everything harder.
This is absolutely a Sweet 16 team with the right draw.
I still think we can win the Big Ten tourney, which I never would have said going into the year.

-Fouling away from the ball anytime
-Fouling away from the ball in last 2-min of halves (is there a rule for that?)
-Fouling before ball is inbounded

Basically, I'm wondering if there is a rule in NCAA Bball that would make Iowa not want to foul Cockburn at the end of the game away from the ball, or before ball was inbounded ? He's a 19% free-throw shooter.... it seems like that's who you'd want to foul if there's nothing preventing it. I just don't know the rules well enough on that.

I was distracted, and my brain heard it as Cockburn being 19% FT.

Anyhow, still curious if there are any rules about fouling.

If it hasn’t changed, it is a flagrant if you foul before the inbounder receives the ball but it is just a common foul if the inbounder is in possession of the ball. You could foul Cockburn with no time running off the clock.
