They jump on them early like they did against USC via some fantastic Lester calls and a big run and get out to a lead. Michigan 2026 isn't USC and they start to press and turn the ball over and it is 21-3 at half. Iowa adds a TD and FG in the second half and gives up a late TD.

I would have believed a score like this was possible if I saw Iowa run the ball for 5YPC+ against ISU. Their inability to do that, and this being Hank's first road start, has me assuming this is going to be a bad offensive performance. I can't remember the last time Iowa's offense looked solid in September against a team with a pulse. Hopefully Lester proves me wrong.

Quick throws to TEs on early downs would be big. Can’t just repeatedly run into a stacked box.

Hank has to have a solid game making quick decisions. Throw it away when it isnt there and be comfortable coming off his first read. There should be some opportunities with Diaz getting doubled.

I don't know that Diaz is gonna get doubled as much as everyone thinks.

He's not Jerry Rice and a lot of teams have one of him. He's a great WR for us.

Portal Kirk 3.0 has had two weeks to prepare for this one. I think they frustrate Underwood into making a couple mistakes and that's enough to get a W.

Michigan is getting pressure 53% of the time on qb drop backs. Gonna be more up to Lester scheming that first guy open consistently. Get rid of the ball quick. This would have been a great game to have Gronowski and RPO.

Yeah this is the bigger concern. Will Iowa come out with the run into a brick wall ISU strategy?

In 2019 Iowa went to Michigan in a very similar game. Nate Stanley completed 23/42 passes, including 1 stretch where Iowa attempted 20 passes in a row, had the ball inside the Michigan 35 yard line 8 times and came away with 3 total points after attempting only 1 field goal in a 10-3 loss. With Alaric Jackson, Tristan Wirfs and Tyler Linderbaum starting, 3 players with a combined contract value of $277,900,000 in the NFL, Iowa gave up 8 sacks. Iowa only handed the ball off 22 times in that game.

Is that the game plan?

I think Michigan will cover the spread as we have some players starting for their first time in an environment like this including and especially the QB. I am not altogether convinced that Lester will pull the Hayden scratch where it itches philosophy that this game needs until the 2nd half after the game starts to get away.

Prove me wrong Hawks.
