He traveled for the first time, yesterday.

He was a 4-star.

Let's see it (it will never happen in a billion years...but what if it did?).
Did he try to eat the shower gel in the hotel? Was he able to get the keycard to work?

What the fuck is up with the delay of game, abrupt coordinated movement bullshit? Having watched a fuckload of football over the years, I feel like we’re the only team who ever gets called for it.

It’s a profoundly stupid and unevenly enforced rule.

The way they explained and enforced during the game that if the defense shifts, the offense is allowed to false start and get a free 5 yards.

They have to shift deliberately and in an uncoordinated manner, it seems.

It's only happened against a couple of teams. If KF and Phil weren't faggots, they would got to the refs before the game and say, "We're allowed to shift, right? I mean, that's not illegal, is it?"
Agreed. It has happened several times to Iowa, and everyone looks so bewildered. If they cleared it with the officials, they should be just lighting them up. But Kirk seemed to have no idea what was going on.

And it's only because the opposing coach brings it up before the game.

"Oh...that's what he was talking about...flag!!!!"

It's dumb and lazy on Iowa's part. "We'll take comfort in knowing we're right if they do call it. We will have been screwed."

Perhaps we can get an apology letter.

It’s always the SJ from the opposing sidelines. Comes running in with a lot to say. Everyone else wants to call false start but that faggot talks and talks until they relent.

Jimmy can move. Lester says he has a great arm. I suppose it's remotely possible to see him if we lose enough and/or have enough <200 yard total offense games in losing efforts. But I doubt he's processing fast enough at this point. I'd like to know if he made an impression in the bye week.

He's been here a year and a half? How many years do our QB recruits need?
he was recruited by Kirk’s son, Brian Ferentz. He’s currently wrapping up 11th grade English, which involves an essay on “how to spot a cocksucker in the press box”, and he should be ready by 2029.

Other programs have true freshman and second year players playing all the time in much better offenses, but it's somehow impossible for a QB in one of the worst offensive programs in modern college football to possibly understand such a complex system.

Could you imagine Drew Tate trying to play at Iowa in the year 2026? Kirk would lose his fucking mind.

It transcends coaches as well. O'Queef, Greg Davis, Kirk’s son, Brian Ferentz, Tim Lester are somehow the most complex offensive minds in the history of football that only 3rd, 4th or 5th year QB's are capable of grasping it.

Do you guys know how difficult it is to throw for 140 yards per game or handoff 30 times to a RB? Take only 1-2 shots down field each game? Dump passes off to a TE on the same route over and over? It takes YEARS of experience for a QB at Iowa to master it.

Kirk's golden boy. Can't possibly think about giving Sullivan or Bessinger a shot for 2 more years minimum with this stud on campus.

I’ll be surprised if Bessinger ever plays a down at Iowa

No RB had fumbled when they brought McNeil in. He came in at half and immediately fumbled himself I think. They played him over Phillips, Williams and Jackson. It was absolutely bizarre.
Phillips kinds sucks too. I can't recall a single impressive run he's had this year.

One thing I noticed Saturday with Hecklinski was not only how quickly he gets the ball away- but he ALWAYS gets the ball away quickly. Not sure it is always ideal.

Iowa always tries it on the goal line on defense to push them back 5 yards. The penalty ended up being about 8 inches. Either way it’s a horse shit call. The offense can shift, have a QB clap like the play is about to start then have their entire team stand up and look to the sideline, but a defensive line shifts and they give up 5 yards.

You forgot missing a wide open Diaz for 6
I would like to add running on second down what seemed like 37 times for negative 23 yards into a stunting and blitzing 8 man box. Minnesota was forcing Iowa to throw and yet Iowa didn't and wouldn't throw in those situations. That is a reflection of trusting the QB1, which obviously the staff doesn't have in either.

Also getting the ball back with 3:00 minutes left and needing three first downs to win the game. Despite having all of the momentum after just finishing a 3 play 98 yard drive and stopping Minnesota, Iowa runs two plays to get to the two minute warning and seemingly set up the punt and play for overtime! Go for the kill shot and keep Minnesota on their heels.

So damn frustrating!

Right. I get why the defense can’t yell out snap counts, but the shifting thing is completely bullshit.

Tim Lester is running Green Bay's offense, an offshoot of the Shanahan system, and it is widely known as the most complicated system out there. A freshman could likely run it, but it would be significantly scaled back, which obviously would limit it's possible effectiveness and handcuff Lester. Yes, I understand it's not exactly working now. Yes, I'd like to see Bessinger get a series or two. But "better offenses" do not equal "harder to understand".

Don't people say that our defense is pretty basic, but we do it really well? Maybe try that on offense.

I know whenever I am coaching at one of the very worst and most talent devoid offensive programs in the country, the brilliant thing to do is hire someone to install what is "widely known as the most complicated system out there" that a talented freshman can't possibly run due to the extreme difficulty.

The ONLY option is to let two supremely untalented 3rd and 4th year donkeys trot out there series after series looking like low functioning, physically injured mental patients. Sorry, I would say retards but that is frowned upon and I'm trying to remove that from my vernacular.

Brilliant strategy by our Gang of 59 staff members. I'm thrilled we pay Tim Lester $1.3m per year to execute this amazing strategy. Let's keep doing it and see how many years we can be the laughing stock of college football. 84 games and counting without a 300 yard passer, and it will be a miracle if that streak doesn't extend to 184 games.

We should probably run something simpler, like what Kirk’s son, Kirk’s son, Brian Ferentz ran.
They made the same excuse to keep young guys off the field back then.

For the record, I like what Lester is doing with the offense. Limit turnovers and we probably have 24 points and win relatively easily on the road against a good defense.

we should be allowed to line up and kick everyone of the 59 coaching members in the nuts after a game like that
I hope this week they spend a lot of time reinforcing how important it is to not fumble, line up offsides, false start and throw picks at the most in opportune times.

Long story short, both QB's are terrible and why they were ran out of their previous scholarships. They've both been here 2 seasons now and fully in Lester's super awesome system and still suck. There is little chance they improve enough to ever be worth a shit. Unfortunately, the other 2 QB's that are supposedly more talented are a 1st and 2nd year players, so we likely are at least 2 more seasons from figuring out if Iowa will have a QB that can walk and chew gum at the same time for more than a single game in a row.

What a thrilling future to look forward to, by the time we MIGHT figure out if we have a good QB we will be a decade removed from having anyone worth a shit for an entire season.

It actually is a brilliant strategy, given all the reasons you list. I know you are still on one of your usual 24 hour post loss manias, but Iowa is uniquely qualified to run a highly complicated but effective offense. They don't get blue blood talent. Their players generally stay in the program long enough to learn it. There will be bumps in the road, but Iowa is miles better now than 3 years ago. Lester is great and I have complete faith in him.

No one in college football runs this. It's impossible to prepare for.
