He has his issues, but Gronowski can make plays. He absolutely won them that game down the stretch. The entire team played at a different level after that pass to Howard.
A legit running threat QB completely changes what we can do late game with a lead.

Gronowski good other than the one shitty throw?
Gronowski great. First deep underthrow - and many of those are completed every weekend around the country- was still in Flipper's belly. Gotta catch that. Dime to Sam Phillips was big time. Missing Vonhamme on 3rd and short was his worst play. Bad throw to Oertwerth, but he has to catch that, even if he goes to his knees to do it.

And oh yeah, Moulton doesn't suck. It would have been nice to bully them with Jaz at times in the second half, however. Hope he isn't too dinged.

Howard made the first catch by an Iowa receiver that I see every other goddamn team make every other goddamn week. It kinda felt like winning a small lotto. Doing that more often and having it be skill would be ideal. Let’s do that more please.

I don't see how they don't play him more as the season progresses.

I thought the Deshaun Lee experiment was over two years ago
They finally pulled him in favor of Watson for that series where Rexroth got the INT. Just in time to save the season for another week.

Definitely beating Indiana next week. Hope they roll tomorrow.

I'm hoping that Bert and his boys physically bully and beat the shit out of Indiana and send them in Iowa City to get beat up even more before they have to take a trip to Oregon the next week. They should lose their next 3 games.

I expected a shitty stadium and a shitty atmosphere, but the stadium was good enough and the atmosphere fantastic. I'm sure most of it was because it was a night game, but everything was extremely well orchestrated, no burrito lift and delta dental smile cam bullshit. They gave a TV out to every section (43" I think is what I saw on the box) to every single section.

TJ Washington is shitty and slow. He nearly fucked up the opening kickoff because he was so fucking slow Wetjen ran into the back of him and had to shove him out of the way. Washington then nearly lost the whole game right after Rutgers scored to go ahead in the 4th because he can't catch a kickoff.

Wetjen is a real love / hate player. He's been absolutely brilliant on returns and also done multiple things to lose or nearly lose games. He runs the opening kickoff back 104 yards, but then fucks up the end of the half punt and instead of getting out of bounds with 2 seconds left he tries to be a hero. Then he lets a punt bounce 30 yards and buries Iowa at their own 3 yard line.

So he’s a white version of ISM. Got it.

Athan Kaliakmandork could not hide who he truly is. He looked like the best QB in the country for half the game, but when the chips were down he shit his shitty pants just like he has so many times before.

Iowa going to have to do something about the LB's. I don't see how the hell they can continue to play Harrell all season. He's slow and can't cover and just not a good player. If they have youth that is significantly better, they need to start playing them.

Nwankpa is just not a good player either. He's shockingly slow and soft with poor instincts that overruns plays over and over. Average athlete at best.

Also, since it’s Iowa, it felt like Gronowski threw for 400 yards and somehow didn’t top 200. Average QB play looks almost electric and exotic.

But it wasn't really average overall. Passing yes, but he lost maybe 75 yards on drops. He ran for first downs and touchdowns, didn't turn it over and staked the claim that "this is my ball club".

By the way... I think there was a "who dat?" somewhere in the game chat re: DJ Vonnahme. Possible future great TE, with the caveat that "Chip thinks everyone is a future All-American" blah blah blah. Came in as 210 walk-on last year and is now 240. Got "great hands" comments last fall. He may have been a kid who ran 4.5 or better at an Iowa camp.

Watch him run and cover ground at 6-4, though.
