Season is over, Iowa will never win again. Shawnee expects a blowout courtesy of the Bengals WR coach. Jogger will be there sucking cock and handing out Starbucks gift cards while showing everyone his Space Needle dick. Everything sucks. Jimmy Sullivan era begins.
None of this is even remotely accurate.

Ha I sure do.
That boat's gonna be chilly on Friday.
60 degrees and drizzle with a nice breeze coming off the lake. When racing on the sound, I'm in full foulies in that kind of weather. Sounds lovely.

I still can't believe Lester thought the way you beat OSU was to throw the ball. They should have been scheming power concepts to gain 3.5 YPC all game long and just realized they weren't going to be explosive. Instead, they racked up a bunch of incompletions and lost time of possession, allowing Jeremiah Smith to be on the field all game.

It better be a run heavy game plan Friday night.

It will be Hank, unless he's hurt. The staff wants it to be him because they don't think Heck has the arm to hit the down field throws, but Hank can't hit them because he's inaccurate anyway, it's more important to have a QB that can consistently hit the intermediate wide open throws, which Hank struggles with. My guess is his saving grace is that Hank hasn't thrown INTs and they fear Heck will. But the bottom line is, you're not going to have high level QB play either way, so commit to the fucking run game and figure it out.

Minnesota struggled to run the ball on Washington, it won't be easy, but it's an L if you go in there assuming the pass game is your best chance.

I don't get the downfield throws part. We hardly/rarely throw the ball more than 20 yards.

I suspect they came out throwing the ball all over the place because they know the line can't run block, at this juncture at least. I'm sure iowa fan wouldn't have been freaking out if they were run heavy for 2ypc and punting the first few possessions.

They run the ball too much!

They're throwing too much!

If this game isn’t at least 60% run I’m going to start to dislike Lester. It’s their only shot this week. Probably gonna need a defensive score or two to win

I get that but if there is a game you want to drag a team into a rock fight by chewing up clock and limiting offensive opportunities its OSU

Hank has now thrown INT's and fumbled for touchdowns. He also got extremely lucky in the first 4 games he didn't have 3-4 more INT's that hit defenders in the chest or were batted down that would have been a sure pick six. He even should have had at least one more INT in the Ohio State game that Evan James saved him on by stripping the Ohio State defender.

If they are looking for a safe option, Hank isn't exactly safe.

If they open this game with that swing pass to Tony I might turn it off. Seen enough of it.
Whichever RB can go straight ahead for 3 yards that’s the guy.

I don't think he's starting Friday

It might be worth remembering the run/pass choice is heavily determined by how the defense is lining up.

I'm ready to throw away a year if it can find a QB that has 3-4 more seasons after this year to be a good starter. If Hank can't make progressions if his first target is covered and can't handle pressure, and if you don't think hecklinski is the guy, see what sullivan can give you.

I mean let’s be honest this team is a couple titty hairs away from being winless vs P4 teams. Credit for hanging tough & winning those two but nonetheless
The margin for error is razor thin, as thin as it’s ever been

Let’s not be retarded. Our offense isn’t nearly as helpless as it was during the BF years. It feels like we’re at least capable if we execute. We did not have those feelings with Petras/Hill.

That said, still not good enough to turtle up and/or keep stepping on our own dicks.

Better, yes. Consistent enough to count on anything in the pass game, no.
The odds of TOs goes way up the more they throw it.
A couple deep shots to Tony, a couple back shoulders to RVZ and 3-4 simples ones to dj. That’s all I want to see especially this week.

All they needed to do was run for 3.5 YPC.

The math isn't hard!

As usual, Iowa loses a game and the reality is not only that they won't win another game this season, but the games the already won are really actually loses.

Lol correct. No game plan would have been the right one when the team loses.

I like the idea of throwing on first down. It seemed a little pass heavy, but I didn’t really have a problem with it other than it drug the game out way longer than usual.

What’s also not helping is Moulton has some kind of shoulder injury and he’s clearly playing pretty gingerly and Phillips is coming off an ankle (he actually looked decent in his limited snaps Saturday). Whether or not the reasons the other guys aren’t getting more carries is real or contrived we’ll just have to speculate I guess. Also the perceived need of putting Winter at center and keeping Pieper at guard probably should have been more of a red flag coming out of fall.

I didn’t “Hate” coming out passing the ball. Hank had open guys to throw to and he flat out missed them multiple times that could have been decent gains or sustained drives and Lester never got overly “cute” in the play calling outside of the 2 point conversion to a OT. That had the greasy fingerprints of Brian all over it.

They’re kind banged up and played like shit and got beat by a much more talented roster and still managed to hang around for much longer than I thought they would. If they can somehow squeak out a win on Friday and get to bye we’re still fine.

Allowing the easy TD before half was just the killer. It felt like they were toying with us.

“Let’s toy with the number 15 team (at the time) in the country on the road so we can leave our starters in the game much longer than necessary risking injury while we’re competing for a national title”

I’m sure that’s what the Ohio State staff was thinking for sure

Would have been down 7 and not 11 had Brian been the OC. Yes, the complexion of the game would have been different too, but Brian 100% would have run a draw on that 3rd and 12 in our own territory. Major tactical mistake by Lester.

The game plan was fine. Hank had open receivers all day but he couldn't throw it in the ocean.

They weren't going to be able to run against OSU.

We've reached the full retard point in the thread where people are arguing that Iowa would have been better off with Kirk’s son, Kirk’s son, Brian Ferentz as OC of the Ohio State game.
Fritz is LWade-esque in the commitment to contrarianism.

I think part of implementing a game plan is knowing the strengths and weaknesses of your players. hanks biggest strength is being the son of Lester’s high school friends.

I also think running the offensive side of the program includes getting the proper personnel needed to run your system.

I hope Hank gets it together for the remainder of the season because Saturday was bad, but he’s the guy they picked.
