The QB position is the responsibility of the coaches. It's 100% on them. This is the position that's responsible for 99% of Iowa's issues. Get a non-faggot QB who isn't a complete coward and they'll be fine. Gronowski fucking sucks.

Can we just give all of Gronowski’s money to the MSU QB to transfer? If not, my second choice would be any other QB on the fucking planet that can reliably complete forward passes. They exist. I’ve seen many on my television in several other games that can do it.

Obligatory glad we won, Gronowski is a winner, etc etc etc.
Sorry, that Michigan State QB is dogshit as well.

Somewhere @howler is drowning in a mixture of his own tears, piss, shit and puke.

I'll take it. Better than a loss, which I was convinced of the entire second half.

I honestly think the lack of ability for our WR to be consistently available is the bigger problem. We coach no turnovers so if a receiver isn’t completely uncovered our QB hesitate instead of doing what everyone else in the country does. The amount of times we actually try to let a receiver make a play is like 10%.

Gronowski not being able to throw an accurate pass doesn’t help the situation either.

I’m kinda pissed Michigan State tackled Washington Jr. for an 8 yard loss on that one play. Looks like Iowa had something dialed up that was going to be a complete disaster.

Unfortunately the only throws he can make are the go route. Instead Iowa tries a bunch of slow crossers that he clearly isn’t comfortable with.

It was going to be a lateral pass back to Gronowski and then a bomb from him down the field if it was open.

100% I have no idea what they were trying to do on that play. Maybe a pass back to Gronowski?

It seems they're recruiting cowards however. Not great
The only 3 QB’s (maybe 4 if you count Banks, but I don’t because if he had another year Iowa would’ve neutered him too) that the coaches couldn’t neuter were Tate, Stanzi and Beathard. Their balls were just too big. Kirk is so turnover adverse he completely handcuffs QBs. I get Gronowski was at an FCS school but you don’t throw for that many yards and not be a competent QB.

Lime will always argue it isn't the case, but 2010 Stanzi was a neutered dog. Tate was a complete headcase and a mess in 2005 and Bethard had no WR's and got beat up so bad in his final game at the Outback Bowl that the color guy calling the game on ESPN flat out quit the sport.

I just dont know what KF could do to them to make it so a D-1 QB can't complete a simple 5-8 yard pass.

Rick became checkdown Charlie, Drew was never the same after getting K’dTFO in Ames, and it was criminal that CJ’s #1 receiver was Riley fucking McCarron.

Nothing that Iowa does makes any sense on offense. They run their defensive philosophy daring teams to make little dink and dunk horizontal passes and tricking them into 12 play drives knowing it's nearly impossible for college teams to execute.

Then on Offense this is exactly what they try to do, including being so "risk averse" they completely abandon any forward pass to the middle of the field. Even simple 5 yard slants are seen as too dangerous.

Util of course they get down 17-7 in the 4th quarter and are forced to get into shotgun and out of the huddle and let it rip all over the middle of the field. Suddenly they are gaining huge chunks of passing yardage over the middle and marching up and down the field.

I don't know how they can see how ironic and idiotic that this all is and not change, but somehow they keep falling into their own trap.

Agree with all of that besides your last sentence. FCS schools fucking suck for the most part. It's not the same sport.

Ricky had super cool stats in 2010, but he couldn't lead a final drive to beat the sisters of the poor. Total fucking neutered pussy that year compared to the wild gunslinger he was in 2009. And yes, sometimes that can be a positive, but 5 times in 2010 they needed Ricky to go out on a final drive and save them and 5 times he failed.

I feel like we completed a slant this this year for a nice gain (TD maybe?), and then of course it was never to be seen again.

A nice difference from Lester and whatever Kirk’s tard was trying to run, there are actually some guys running open on plays. We just need a QB who can see the fucking field and get the ball where it needs to be.

I remember arguing with people about this here a few times.

Yes, Ricky's 2010 stats were better. But my eyes told me he was much better in 2009

2010 Stanzi put together one of the best QB seasons at Iowa in the past 30 years. It wasn't his fault his RBs couldn't keep it in their pants and the defense got gashed by anyone running the spread.

That's all fine and stuff, but his clangers were gone at the end of games. That's just a fact.

My favorite part was when they changed announcers to the EA sports guy. If it’s in the game, it’s in the game.

Also, yes, it was the fault of the defense ultimately in 2010, but Rick turtled every chance he got in final drives. Arizona, Wisconsin, Northwestern and Minnesota in particular. I can't remember if he did against Ohio State.

We love to make QBs film retarded at Iowa, thereby quelling their natural instincts and talent
