Yep, that is why they gave him the Assistant Head Coach title and got him to pass up multiple defensive coordinator positions including the Minnesota job.

As far as @Revolver's post above, time is the clarifier of all things. When things were shitty a few years ago in the midst of Brian and Peaches and people were clamoring to fire Kirk and hire an outside guy, the hot names from 3 years ago are all some degree of shit.

Mark Stoops seemed like a slam dunk coming off his 10 win season and Top 15 ranking at Kentucky. Now a couple years later he's had two straight losing seasons and got blown out by Vanderbilt last night and is about to be fired.

Iowa has had 2 coaches in 46 years, the entire thing is based upon a system built on consistency and development. I would be perfectly fine with them passing the torch to Seth Wallace if that means Phil and most of the staffs stays on and not much changes other than maybe get rid of that worthless Wisconsin shithead Budmayer.

I do kind of wonder when he'll hang it up. The guy is in better shape than most 50 year olds and is as mentally sharp today as he was 20 years ago. Cries more.

His pass off the field goal post. Lol. He is very mediocre as a passer and benefitted playing FCS teams for four years. That level was fitting for him.

He's fine and does enough to help Iowa win but nothing we can't live without. Much like Tim Lester. Yet they're light years and of Brian and Peaches/McNamara/Bacon

Mentioned earlier about using portal resources in the trenches, but where is the QB on this roster to allow for that, Heckinski?

Also, I am now fully on board with Frodo's evaluations of Gronk. His reads are far too slow, too slow in decision making and he throws an awful inaccurate ball often nose up. Other than that, he is a good leader on the field and good runner with good size. We were so conditioned (battered) with guys like Bacon, Cade, Peaches, that anyone who could even get the ball remotely close to a receiver looked like a God send, which is what Gronk is/was. Even with his throwing shortcomings, he is miles ahead of what we were forced to endure previously.

Gronowski isn't great. At all. But it is sort of undeniable that he's got that end of game last drive shit down. He's a couple defensive stops away from having 5 game winning final drives this year.

He's also playing at about 70% healthy at best.

The play they freaked out on was the long play down inside the 5. Their TE caught the ball after he clearly should have been flagged for a false start. Kirk called a timeout to get an explanation. I believe it was in the first half.
I can't recall the last time I saw Kirk so worked up. I swear I saw steam rolling out his ears.

That sideline ref kept waving Kirk back and not allowing the timeout. I thought Kirk was going to run down and tackle him. He got down to the 15 screaming at him. It was right in front of me and was something to watch.

I think some people thought it was the wrestling PA guy.
It was. I recognized his voice right away. Been in a few meetings with him over the years. He's a very engaging guy to talk to. But football play by play didn't come across well. Maybe with some audio adjustment and practice he'd be ok. But I was very happy to hear the current guy back later in the quarter.

Would you rather be Nebrantska, who got blasted in the ass by Penn State today? Or maybe #21 Illinois, who is currently getting blasted in the ass by Wisconsin?

It’s hard to win in the Big 10. Iowa overcame a 10 point deficit on Senior Night, so forgive me if I have a hard time being miserable about the outcome.
I feel like I was blasted in the ass by Kirk today. We just happened to win.

I can't remember the situation but I think it was early second half, Parker tore into Entringer pretty good and Entringer smashed his helmet into the bench. Wonder what that was about?
Parker was mad at Entringer about how he was playing so he yelled at him and Entringer got mad about being yelled at. Hope that helps clear it up

Probably hard to fire him since he's basically 2nd in charge of the entire University

I appreciate his toughness and wish they’d let him return vs Indiana. And that the staff had embraced his strengths vs ISU. He was so close to going down as a legend.

Excited to see what Hecklinski can do. I think he may have a little Drew Tate/Baker Mayfield/Gunner Stockton in him. May he have balls too brassy to neuter.

Eleven games in and they haven’t figured out to run Gronowski 3-4 times early to calm him the fuck down

Also, just think that Wetjen missed out on at least a full year of returning kicks because DeJean was in front of him. Last 4 return guys at Iowa were or are arguably the best in the entire country. Lavar Woods is a magician, especially given that 3 of them are crackers.

All 3 Kaden Wetjen's returns, for a 49 yard average for the day:
