Moss isn’t going anywhere you fucking morons.

Nolookpass only said that because he selected him as his poor little victim.

He would have to be a grad transfer as he has already redshirted

I still think Frans name pops up in coaching searches this year. Just a gut feeling. Even though he makes it harder on himself than needed, I would still be frustrated with our fanbase. But coaches also tend to live in a bubble and Fran DGAF about many opinions other than his. But it’s just crazy to me all the shit that is talked about him and his family on social media, all because he’s not all “aw shucks” like Kirk or Dr Tom.

Feels a bit like the McDermott situation to me.

Unless there's a mid-level school out there with some potential that has hit rock bottom and can point to his rebuilding success I don't see it happening. He's had too much bad press this year.

I'm hoping that somebody willing to scream at someone and call them a motherfuker would have thicker skin

I’ve never heard Fran do anything other than compliment our fans. I think that’s the definition of thick skin.

Okay I guess I deduced from the tone of your post that you think bad fans would drive Fran to look for another gig

That’s correct. But he’s always publicly taken the high road.

Fran's sideline demeanor, his antics @ ICW games, & his alienating of segments of the fanbase...are all problems of his own making. Additionally, when you have your own kids on the team, you have to know that's going to bring out the low-hanging fruit people (not unlike a certain guy around here).

I hope he starts winning more, because when people see how good DJ Carton is...it's going to make for a situation not unlike Tom Davis, where people start asking why he can't keep the best players here.

I was going to make the argument that next year is his most talented team if Cook comes back. Then I looked at the 2014 team again.

If next year's team struggles, and Fran has both sons playing significant minutes, it's going to be an absolute shit show. I'll probably quit the internet.

That's one guy since Marcus Paige when he was in his first year. That's the last thing people should complain about.

I have heard grumblings from parents who interact with his kids. The guy definitely brings it on himself. I just think he is too cocky to perform the Alford flee, and he has been good enough to not get fired. You are right that a huge portion of the fam base will bitch, but those people are dumb. They bitch about Kirk too.

I disagree. He was brought in primarily as a guy who was going to upgrade recruiting. Carton is a player at THE key position that we've been lacking since he's been here. IIRC, Carton even played on Patrick's AAU team all these years...& now (unlike Paige who went to a true 'blue blood' program)...he goes to another middling program in conference & we have to see him twice every year.

We'll see. I just see that one as a really big miss.

McDermott had 4 straight losing seasons, no postseason appearances and no reason to think that might change. Fran has been to 4 of 6 NCAAs (and post season in 7 of the last 8) and should be expected to be in the tournament again next year. Feels a bit different to me.

Carton played for quad city elite, not the barnstormers, and has only lived in Iowa a few years.

It amazes me how often people form negative opinions based on false information.

There is so much wrong here.

He was brought in to upgrade the program which he did. And yes he did upgrade recruiting. Since he had an actual chance to recruit everyone, he's gotten every single in-state kid he wanted including three 4-stars if you count Mike. Woody and Joe could have gone to blue bloods and didn't. Several others had Big Ten/Big 12 offers. And supposedly we're in good shape with a 5-star in Foster.

Ohio State isn't a middling program. Last 11 years they've missed two tournaments, been to a Final Four, Elite 8, two more sweet 16's. They were one game from winning the Big Ten under a first year coach in the season prior to Carton's committment.

Carton didn't play on Patrick's team all these years, I have no idea where you got that from.

Nearly everything you typed there is incorrect.

Carton didn't play on the Barnstormers, he isn't an Iowa native, he isn't going to another "middling" program and Iowa might not see him twice every year.

Of course I can.

Toms mostly boring career is now revered because he was nice.

That’s dumb.

I really don't think he's leaving but St. Joe's just fired Martelli after a billion years so now St. Joe's in the A-10 and Temple are open in Philly.

I guess I could see it if I squint, but Connor is on a good baseball team, and the basketball team should at least make the Tournament next year.

And because his teams pretty frequently made the NCAAs, especially compared to what followed him. And before you jump on me, yes I acknowledge that making the tourney in 4 of the last 6 is pretty similar.

I would be shocked if Iowa does not make the tournament the next 2 years at a minimum. That would be 6 of 8 years and pretty damn good for Iowa.

If Fran left, he'd be ducking out on:

1 five year guy
4-5 four year guys
2 three year guys
Not to mention the freshman/sophomores to be that are better than just about any he's recruited.

I just don't see it. All his faults aside, his players are like his family and I'd just be shocked if he left after this year.

Temple has Aaron Mckie as a coach in waiting. St Joe's could be interesting, but it doesn't seem likely, especially with Connor playing baseball.

No wonder I haven't been reading any speculation on the Temple job.

If Fran does leave, I think that one game sample of Speraw at Wisconsin is enough for him to not be considered for the job on anything more than an interim basis.

Fran's a victim!

Snowflake nation.
The guy is a Philly native and that is one of the premiere programs in the area for someone like Fran and a chance to go home. The job as pointed out is already filled, but how in the fuck does that have anything to do with being a victim?

It sucks that the 2014/2015 classes were such dogshit. If Fran hits on even half of those guys then he is making the NCAA Tournament every year.

Missed on every single player except for Moss, and even that is a mediocre hit at best.

2.5 million or whatever Fran makes a year is like 5 million in Philadelphia. Plus it's a much better quality of life in Iowa City then Philadelphia and his kids have pretty much grown up in Iowa City. You thinking that fran really wants to go back to Philadelphia would be like you going back to manage the theater in Mousecatine

Fran leaving the year before 2 of his kids will be on the team is an all time moronic discussion, especially the week of the dancing Hawkeyes.

Bracket looks like it could really open up for Iowa after the Tennessee OT payback Sunday.

I don't like Mousecatine or Iowa (other than Kinnick) at this point, he seems to be fond of Philly still.

Again, what does that have to do with "victim"?

His issues aside, I think fran would be an attractive candidate for several East Coast schools. Particularly because he would bring a top 100 freshman and another very good point guard recruit with him.

Iowa fans don’t like him for it, but calling a ref a cheating motherfucker is likely a net positive for an East Coast fan.

Seriously, they have a puncher's chance. Cincy plays tough, but 20 conference games preparation + tournament style + tournament zebras could = Survive and Advance.

And Tennessee is really good and full of quality experience, but not uber talented for the seed, a hot shooting day could be enough.

IowaFan fucking sucks.
You are IowaFan
No, dipshit IowaFan is running around on twitter and other social media trashing the program. IowaFan is bitching about Fran's salary. IowaFan is begging for Barta and Fran to be fired so they can put Dolph on their shoulders. IowaFan is crowing about how if they lost to Illinois they would have been in Dayton. IowaFan hates Patrick because he is skinny.

I'm an Iowa Fan and a dipshit as well, but not IowaFan.
