Imagine 20 years ago, student athletes getting paid by Casinos.

Ehh. NIL has removed the pretense of the "purity" of college athletics.
The only people that should be mad about this are the schools that were doing it before everyone else could.

It appears that Kirk is going to gamble that all of last year’s issues were Spencer-related and allow his dumb twat of a son to try to improve his resume by giving him another shot.

This could only happen at Iowa. Perfect storm of a weak AD, toothless media, and easily placated fans.

The fact Kirk’s son, Brian Ferentz is still employed?

They own Riverside Casino so it makes sense for them but the optics of college athletes being supported by gambling money is horrible.
At this point, who gives a shit? Optics aren’t a thing anymore. Won’t be surprised when we see dispensaries, bars/distributors, etc supporting athletes either.

LOL at the pace of this decision. Regardless of the ultimate outcome, even that is something that could only happen here, under Garta’s bold leadership.

One uncommon positive regarding Brian (other than his hatred of Iowa State): His capacity to evoke HaLo Thunderdome.

How long will it take for people to stop insinuating that when their team doesn't get a recruit, the evil winning team paid them more in some nefarious plot to stack the deck against Johnny Hometeam?

Yes, yes the other team did that. There is no insinuation necessary. The other team paid that recruit more money. That's what happened.

So he saw how horrible the offense was, decided it was Spencer’s fault, and still didn’t try out another qb.

There was the belief that changes wouldn't be made until after the bowl game. That was almost 2 weeks ago. Recruiting is pretty much done. The more time that passes, especially with Iowa in the Top 25 in most pre-season polls, the less pressure Kirk will feel. He's not going anywhere.

At this point, I truly believe it has nothing to do with Kirk. I think it is all about how good Brian's options are. And they are probably super poor because he is a skill-deficient goon who no one wants as a co-worker.

Well….that DOES have a lot to do with Kirk

he’s unwilling to fire his dipshit son unless he has a soft landing

That's the magic of Kirk's retardation. I don't think he ever thought Spencer was an issue. There's was always something else to blame, like a young offensive line. In his mind, Spencer was fine. But McNamara is better and the offensive line will be improved because...reasons. So why not give Brian another shot to repair his reputation?

Iowa football is basically a family business at this point and Kirk has garnered enough goodwill with Iowa fans to pretty much do whatever he wants.

The only rumor of any substance that had Brian leaving was him following BOB to New England as a position coach. NE hasn't even made their OC hire yet.

Your arbitrary timeline is made up in your own head.

The only hope was and is Brian goes to the NFL and those staffing decisions should be starting soon.

All timelines regarding this are made up. Kirk obviously operates on his own timeline for everything, forever. It can be annoying, but I don't know that it should be given it is Kirk, and it's not changing.

That's my theory. Iowa has dropped all of this NIL money to rebuild the offense. Why bring in someone else and allow them to succeed when Brian didn't have the same opportunity? It will only further the narrative that Brian was/is incompetent, while the new OC gets all the praise.

I also think the biggest issue is that Kirk (and Mary) doesn't want to send his son and grandchildren to the east coast when they currently live 10 minutes away. Kirk will do whatever he can to preserve that.

This is why nepotism sucks.

lol. Brian would never have to work another day in his life if he didn’t want to.

So a ticket reduction. I’m sure that means there’ll be a new OC

LOL
