Portal guy shared this today. Wooooooooof.

I'm good at some things, and suck at others. One of the things I apparently suck at is marketing and fundraising. I'm doing my best to improve on those things....and I'm certainly not even close to the worst, but I want Iowa athletics to be the best. It's just a heavy lift. I work for free and have another job as well. I go 12-15 hours a day almost every day.

We are in the middle of the transfer portal season. We need DUDES. I need another million dollars to get the DUDES we want. If you know anybody with the ability to give something, anything, it would be helpful.

Thanks. Go Hawks!

He’s said something similar at the same exact point the last 2 years. They always seem to find the money.

Unfortunately, the Proctor/McNamara/Kaleb Brown triumvirate showed how dumb it is to fork over money to a collective. Last year they spent a lot of their money to bring players back and Jermari Harris showed you can get paid while simultaneously just deciding you’re not going to play at some point in the year.

Brad shouldn’t be making comments like this, but it’s nothing new. He’s been very self deprecating as long as he’s been in this position. Again, I laugh at anyone who says he shouldn’t be doing this. Who should be doing it? Who in their right mind is taking this job? Brad is over qualified and while he’s getting the perks of the job, he’s doing it without pay.

The reality is that Iowa is fighting up a weight class for portal guys. Their main competition for their two biggest potential additions are Ohio State and Mizzou, two programs loaded with NIL money. Most Iowans are a little more reasonable than throwing more than a couple hundred bucks a year at kids they don’t know

Also, just the people on the swarm board should be able to pay for a decent team- Rastetter, Moons, DC, Ron Kirchoff.

The thing is...Brad LOVES the attention and minor celebrity doing the job affords him.

Now if Kirk left/retired, I could see him stepping away, but as long as Kirk is there, I think Brad will be.

Having an unpaid volunteer in such a critical role doesn't seem like a blueprint for long term success.
Can Iowa create an NIL Program Manager position and fund it properly? Or, do they need to remain separate entities for some reason?

the problem is trying to find someone who is really good at getting people to give him/her money for a cause but not good at getting people to give him/her money for salary

You need to get a well known former Hawkeye. Ideally one that doesn't even need the money. Have them show up at events and shake the hands and slap the backs of the all rich guys who wanted to pretend like they were friends with a former Hawk/NFL guy.

Does Pat Angerer have any friends?

It’s time for all the coaches to cut their salaries by 2/3 if you want to win. They are the ones who came out way ahead over the last several decades.

Dallas Clark, Tim Dwight, Bob Sanders, Chuck Long, Marv Cook, Aaron Kampman, Nate Kaeding, or George Kittle when he retires.
Somebody like that.

It's either, 'Hi, we need a million dollars for the football team, I'm Brad, you've never heard of me and I do this in my spare time.'
Or, 'Hi, we need a million dollars for the football team, I'm Brad Banks, oh, you'd like a picture? Absolutely.'

Norfolk St. isn't hiring Michael Vick as their next head coach, because he's really great with the x's and o's.

George Kittle or Chad Greenway
Chad should donate a bunch that Gray Duck fortune he has made. He could also be involved in putting a bunch of money in his daughter’s bank account.

Has he tried asking Kirk for half his salary?
Seems that if these DUDES are going to be helping Kurt achieve his personal goal of >.60 plus passing Hayes, this makes sense.

I would prefer someone whose main goal is not to continue to be lazy and live off their long-ago Hawkeye fame.

Find someone young and engaging that is currently showing promise in medical sales or coaching.
