In Lester We Trust!
In Lester We Trust!
Not sure we can say Stratton was atrocious against NE. He got full Kirked and wasn’t allowed to throw it more than a yard or two past the LOS.I think the reality is that Sullivan and Stratton are both shitty. They are fine enough to be a backup and emergency backup, but over a 12 game season it just isn't going to work out. We aren't talking about it today because Iowa won a historically goofy game, but Stratton was fucking atrocious against Nebrantska. If he even has the remote shot to be the starter in 2025, then Iowa is fucked. Sullivan was atrocious against UCLA and then he got hurt, which he is prone to do as a running QB.
Iowa should still be aggressively pursuing talented QB's out of the portal, but they just need to learn from Cade to not bring in guys with multiple devastating injuries and don't crown them the champ before they have had a single practice.
The ones they're after aren't better than the ones we have. They're not going to get a top tier one either. I think you have to hope for a diamond in the rough, develop them and hopefully put yourself in a better situation to land a talented kid out of high school. This transfer portal shit is fucking absurd and the vast majority of the players in it are trash.I think the reality is that Sullivan and Stratton are both shitty. He was terrible. 7/14 for 43 yards. He can't run the RPO.Not sure we can say Stratton was atrocious against NE. He got full Kirked and wasn’t allowed to throw it more than a yard or two past the LOS.
That said, he didn’t appear to be able and/or willing to keep the backside honest on the RPO, so he ain’t the guy.

I'm not advocating just going after a top tier guy, but you have to try to find a better player. For example, even though he didn't play well against Iowa in the 2nd half, Minnesota got exactly what they needed in Max Brosmer from New Hampshire. Iowa would be good with someone similar (and being able to RPO would be a plus). The ones they're after aren't better than the ones we have. They're not going to get a top tier one either. I think they were way too Kirky in how they were handling Stratton in the Nebrantska game(and the game prior). They were convinced there was only one way to win that game (Nebrantska fucking themselves (not a bad strategy mind you) and did not deviate from it one bit.
Was the TD changed from a pass to a run? In real-time, and replay, I did not think it was a pass, but a search just now doesn't lead me to anything being ruled different. He was terrible. 7/14 for 43 yards. He can't run the RPO.
It's great that he came out of nowhere and got lucky on a few passes his first couple of games similar to a guy that hasn't played basketball forever will be on fire for a couple of pickup games but quickly plays awful soon after and can't move the next day.
Jackson Stratton isn't the answer. At all. He can stay and be 3rd string and give him a scholarship if they have an extra one left over.
Sullivan is the answer for now. Guy that can run a bit and create that option. Develop him. Don't bring in a fucking statue. He was terrible. 7/14 for 43 yards. He can't run the RPO.

I think so, but either way it was basically a lateral he threw off target and Kaleb Johnson had to make a great play to even catch it, so I give Stratton no credit. Was the TD changed from a pass to a run? Stratton really doesn't deserve the credit on that play.
We are on the same page somewhat, I don't want a statue either, but the dude couldn't make it 3 games without being injured for the season, so you have to go get someone at least on his level to compete for the job.Sullivan is the answer for now. Who is he throwing to at SC?Miller Moss threw for as many TDs in 9 games this year as 5 Iowa QBs have in the last 26 games.
He was also much better statistically than the guy who replaced him, his HC is just a soft-ass pussy who needed someone to fall on the sword for him since he is incapable of addressing his own absolute refusal to prioritize having a competent defense.
Iowa is not going to get any better than him in the portal, and unlike Cade he's not held together by duct tape and crossed fingers. There should be absolutely zero debate about him.
I mean, this is a decent point as well. I don't trust guys coming from huge programs like USC with elite receivers as they tend to make even mediocre QB's look a lot better than they are.Who is he throwing to at SC?
Jarriet fucking Buie?
The same guys his replacement wasn't able to throw to.Who is he throwing to at SC?

Anyways, long term Iowa should hope they hit on a really really good high school QB.
None of us know how the coaches view Jimmy Sullivan. If they think he has the potential to be the starter in 2 years then a 1 year stop gap guy like Miller Moss makes sense.I mean, this is a decent point as well. Maybe you should donate to the swarm then, bitch.
This is his breakout game. Some nice throws, but a lot of great plays on 50/50 balls and yards after the catch.
Put this guy on Iowa's roster and he is the best QB, but he isn't worth blowing what little NIL Iowa has.
He was scout team QB up until a few weeks ago and not even practicing his own team’s offense. Of course he’s going to be uncomfortable.None of us know how the coaches view Jimmy Sullivan. Going into next year status quo is likely goijg to put you in the same position you were in this year. It’s almost impossible for Sullivan to stay healthy for 12 games playing the way he does.
Stratton is fine as the 3rd option off the bench. But anyone watching the Nebrantska game should have seen how uncomfortable he was in the pocket. If his first read wasn’t there he was fucked which is why they were Kirking it.
I think he turned the wrong way on the first handoff of the game.None of us know how the coaches view Jimmy Sullivan. If they think he has the potential to be the starter in 2 years then a 1 year stop gap guy like Miller Moss makes sense.

Still listed as a pass, and there was zero discussion of it not being a pass in-gameWas the TD changed from a pass to a run? In real-time, and replay, I did not think it was a pass, but a search just now doesn't lead me to anything being ruled different.

LB will likely be fine, they like the backups and it's hard to doubt Wallace at this point. In the spirit of the thread, there are a lot of needs other than QB.
I'll feel better once Iowa locks in starting level help at DB / DL / WR and LB.
Personally I’d love to see Cooter out there too.it will be interesting to see if Kueter is in the mix at LB.
I'd bet that he will never be in the mix at LB. He's either going to move to DE or quit. Playing two sports with the mental load of being a LB is too much, particularly after taking a year off.it will be interesting to see if Kueter is in the mix at LB.
It's still a pass according to espn. It's wrong but probably doesn't matter very much except to Kaleb.I think so, but either way it was basically a lateral he threw off target and Kaleb Johnson had to make a great play to even catch it, so I give Stratton no credit.
I could not disagree more. Nwankpa is a FS and he's been playing out of position for his entire career. The further he gets from the LOS, the better.I’d move Nwankpa to cash, start Entringer and Lutmer at safety, then bring in a portal corner to compete with Hall, Lee, Nestor and Watson. Nwankpa is too slow for safety, making him a hybrid linebacker would be better for the defense rather than Entringer.
Whatever keeps him the furthest away from tackling the ball carrier, I'm all for.I could not disagree more. Nwankpa is a FS and he's been playing out of position for his entire career. The further he gets from the LOS, the better.
He's got plenty of speed and he's a natural center fielder. He lacks quickness in short areas which would make him absolutely terrible at Cash.
I will miss his patented move of sprinting up to the action for the best possible view. The defense will be better just by Schulte being gone.
He's a poor man's Tanner Miller.
I agree and hope Phil moves him. He's a ballhawk.I could not disagree more. Nwankpa is a FS and he's been playing out of position for his entire career. The further he gets from the LOS, the better.

I would NOT move X to cash
