A couple weeks ago, I was asked to go down to Springfield, MO for work to help for a week. I was curious, and a team player, so said yes.

It was everything I imagined. Guys were nice enough, but missing or multiple decayed teeth, accents, and general white trash.

Got paid $650 for mileage, same salary for doing nothing for 7 hours (far less than normal, and didn't do shit) a day for 3 days, then space-whacking in the hotel the company paid for 5 days (Sunday through Wednesday), didn't have to work Thursday ("travel").

Everything I was asked to do I could have handled remotely.

Would volunteer again.
I'm honestly kind of surprised you noticed such a difference. Sounds pretty similar to Cedar Falls to me.

Springfield is pretty renown as the meth capital of Missouri. Which probably puts it in the running for the entire country.

If they were desperate, the athletic department would be more forceful in directing the collective. They are content.
They are going to need money to play the players directly

Revenue Sharing to Start in 2025
If this settlement is finalized, July 2025 will signal the start of college athletics’ “pay-for-play ” era. This is the most groundbreaking piece of the settlement, as active student-athletes have never been paid directly by their institutions in the history of college athletics.

If a school opts into the settlement, student-athletes are expected to receive up to 22% of the average Power Conference revenue in 2025, estimated to be between $21-23 million. That figure is expected to grow by about four percent each year. That amount would work like a salary cap, meaning colleges that opt into the settlement do not need to reach that total when paying their student-athletes.

Remember, schools that opt out of the settlement would not be required to pay their athletes. Many schools that aren’t in the current power conferences or don’t offer football as a sport are expected to opt out of the settlement parameters.

They would also not have to reach that determined cap figure if they opt-in and begin paying their players. Ross Dellenger of Yahoo Sports has reported via X that many schools are expected to use a formula similar to the back pay structure. That would mean football players would receive about 75% of that revenue share, and the remaining 25% would be split between men’s basketball (10-15%) athletes and all other sports (10-15%).

If approved, more than $20 billion of revenue will be shared with Division I student-athletes over the next ten years, with the cap going as high as $33 million for each school in 2035.

75% of 22 million is $16.5 million which is projected to go to Football players

Any statement yet from Iowa on what the plan is for this?

I know the tv deal might bring in an extra $30million/year. 2023 overall revenue was $167 million and it looks like $160 million was spent. $34 million to debt/facilities. Probably need to raise ticket prices or get increased contributions

Student Fees$650,000.00
Conference/NCAA Distributions, Media Rights, and Post-Season Football$65,487,010.00
Donor Contributions$45,861,913.00
Ticket Sales$29,671,222.00
Corporate Sponsorship, Advertising, Licensing$13,159,689.00
Other Revenue$12,587,972.00

SIAP but this is some small time yokel Blumsy bullshit. God damn that's a bad look. And it's useless, too. They need a few guys to write 7 (or very high 6) figure checks each year, not Boone Haywagon to mail you $10 at the same time he sends in his box tops to Miller for a free high life cooler.
I know Mr Haywagon, I am friends with Mr Haywagon, and you sir are no Mr Haywagon.

Brad would gladly give up his collective job. No one else wants to do it.
there’s going to have to be a concerted effort to professionalize it…probably coordinated by Beth or at her behest. That in itself is going to require some real investment. No one worth a shit is going to be excited about taking over the current set up.

It was based on a real life example. A buddy's family had a place up north in minnesota and an uncle of his had sent in enough of those things to get multiple folding chairs, coolers, etc. My memory/hope/prayer is that he worked at some sort of recycle place or whatever because if not he gives credence to Jon Miller's concern of becoming a light beer alcoholic.

QB would have been nice, but they did get an upgrade there and it is in better shape than it has been in years. They can/should use that money for DB upgrades and about 5 other things.

Raygun needs to go down in the worst way. Between this, “It wasn’t a fair catch”, “Punting is winning”. They play to to CyFan in all of us and it is disgusting.

There are rumors that Iowa is trying to get Maalik Murphy in for a visit. He was Dukes QB this year and threw for 26 TDs. Committed to Oregon State a few days ago but hasn’t signed. On3 has him rated as the 4th best QB to enter the portal.

With these agencies representing a lot of players now, there is back channel talk that happens. Iowa is aware of kids that will be entering the portal but haven’t yet.

Iowa is also willing to blow their collective load financially on a QB and OT. Not sure what’s really out there at OT at the moment though.

We need another real DT, perhaps more than anything depending on the quality of our young OTs.

He ran for -79 yards last season.
Yeah, he can run but not a runner.

The other thing here is despite leading Duke to a 9-3 record and throwing for like 2,500 yards, 22 TD's and only 6 INT's, he was recruited over and forced out by Manny Diaz. Duke has a huge new NIL for football and they gave the transfer from Tulane $4m.

Hes absolutely not mobile, he can move but is the definition of a pocket passer. Regardless, he's better than anything Iowa has had since Beathard. Not sure how he stacks up against Nate Stanley
