I cannot under nearly any circumstance envision what it would take for me to "flip out" at a high school sporting event.

Perhaps you have never thought about what would happen if the ref was not calling it both ways. Or if your son/daughter was on the bench when you KNOW they ate better than the starter.

You can’t know how you would react under such high stress situations unless you’ve lived it.

Brad thought he was going to easily get at least 10,000 Iowa fans to join the Swarm and pay $20 a month. He was probably hopeful for 15k-20k.

Reality hit 2 years ago when they peaked at around 2500. He’s always seemed to look at Iowa Athletics through a HawkeyeReport.com type of level where he thinks everyone cares as much as those people.

Iowas either going to need a large donor to start throwing around large sums of money or Iowa State to have a 3-4 year run where they’re consistently better than Iowa to the point that even people on HaLo start writing checks.

He's still better than Blum's band of dingleberries. I think he's done fine from an organizational standpoint, but it probably wouldn't hurt to bring on someone with a personality or fund raising ability to take some of the load off him.

No, not that kind of load @AZmessDAWG
Not sure that tracks…

We could probably solve a shit load of the world’s problems if we would spend as much time, effort, and money on those things as we do on finding ways to pay millions of dollars to semi-literate teenagers to play football.

I like Beth, but I’m not sure managing this dynamic is gonna be within her wheelhouse either.
Seriously? I have no idea if she is or isn’t but if the answer is negative, she shouldn’t be AD.

because it doesn’t exactly have highly competent large organization department administrator written all over it. it likely requires more of a glad handing slime ball skill set. maybe she can hire that person…and get them to gently push Brad out at least with respect to the sales/marketing work. the next football coach will need to be an active participant too…Kirk’s never going to really buy in.

I like Beth… She has an extremely challenging situation to navigate… But she’s got bigger balls than most of the men she’s dealing with
there needs to be pretty close to full alignment on objectives and coordination between the AD, staff, outside collective and its bigger donors to be effective - that’s gotta suck. but you gotta prioritize it and try or you don’t have a shot at anything that matters

The information on all of this seems to be all over the place, but as an aggregate Iowas NIL warchest seems about commensurate with what one would expect if you look at the various “rankings”.

But to me it still seems kind of low with where they are as far as athletic department revenue and overall fan engagement.

Having never had to fire a coach and be on the hook for a huge buyout you would think they could scrounge up more funds

I suppose you can have an aggressive former medical sales superstar, try to win over the top 18 year old QB's and receivers.
I guess I'd prefer a former athlete, who can speak to the Iowa culture, development, and college and maybe even pro career that Iowa provided them. Seems like that would be more impactful for both the players we're trying to bring in, and the donors we're trying to encourage to give.
What are you talking about?

I’ve known Dallas Clark to be a good guy, and think he’d be good as the head of the collective. He clearly cares about Iowa football. I’m thankful to Brad for putting shit together, but what is needed is beyond him. Having at least a former player in place would help, I’d think.
