Lol, if this happens guys like this don't commit to "compete". He's the starter. Sullivan, if he stays, would be the backup and maybe RZ QB package.

The best case would be Sullivan stays and does exactly that. Find a way to use him in key situations. I'd rather have Sullivan as the backup than Stratton and Auburn QB.

He's 6'4'' and well built and fast. Put him out at a split receiver sometimes or a pseudo TE.

I just can't believe Sullivan would get a big enough payday somewhere to the point where he would want to move to a third campus in three years, learn yet another whole new system and still not be guaranteed anything. He would have a nice role here, even as a backup.

I like Sullivan and hope he stays. He just isn't a starter and he should accept that. He couldn't beat out Cade, then when he finally sort of did by default he got himself murdered within 5 quarters of playing full time. Then he came back and got himself nearly killed again within a quarter.

He should be a poor man's Taysom Hill. Find a way to get him in the game in the right situations.

I mean, what do you expect? I don't want to sound defeatist but Iowa has never signed classes full of 5* recruits and they're likely never going to sign the top priority 7 figure portal guys either. Poaching guys from lower levels who have shown they can compete to fill out the roster is exactly what Iowa should be targeting in the portal era.

That’s the only part I disagree with. He could, in fact, beat out Cade. At most other schools he would have.

I like Sullivan. I hope he stays. But Iowa is beyond the point at QB to worry about who might leave if you can bring someone in to upgrade the position.

There’s also no way Iowa can expect Sullivan to stay healthy for an entire year with the way he plays.

Sullivan couldn't make it two games healthy. Then he comes back and immediately gets dinged up in the bowl game.
