Two marginal soybeans (yes I know Nestor is from Chicago) transferring at this point in time is a good sign to me.

I heard a week ago 2nd hand that Phil Parker has a rager this year and is on a mission. He's embarrassed about what happened on defense last year that happened to coincide with him becoming extremely well paid and out to correct it this year.

Whenever I see Lachey I have trouble remembering his name isn't Nick.

Did they release results?

lol at Petras. Dude have some pride for gods sake and fuck off into the sun. You are a huge factor in Iowa becoming a national embarrassment that everyone in the sports media wanted to just disappear for multiple seasons. And we’re still feeling the aftershocks. The lack of self awareness is awe inspiring.

Even Cade fucking McNamara (our version of Mike Dexter from Can’t Hardly Wait) knew when it was time to break camp and get the hell out.

I just don’t understand guys like that. You’re not good enough. It’s ok and no one will give a shit if you just move on.

He ran like a 4.8 or something. He’s was pretty banged up a lot of his career and it kinda sucks for him. Hopefully the young guys at the TE position end up being more productive. But Lester really seems to prefer 3 WR sets.

I mean, that sounds awesome and all. But does it mean that he wasn't trying as hard last year so this year he's just really going try, like, super hard?

The thought of a pissed off Phil is kind of fun to think about if he has the guys to compete. Add that to Lester having a chance to better implement his offense and guys to run it. I love the optimism of spring ball.

I remember my dad telling me this 30+ years ago. He was a star on an undefeated high school team, but he said that our team (this is the mid-90’s) would absolutely smoke them. We were bigger, faster, and would physically dominate.

The trend has not stopped. The training and technology available to kids these days is producing absolute monsters. Todays high school teams are bigger on the line than some of Kirk’s early teams.

My kid was 6' and 240 his senior year and looked absolutely tiny as compared to the rest of the oline. The next smallest kid was 6'2 270. It's crazy. And as you said, training is so much better. Kids are already in shape when practice starts. They are doing Olympic lifts and injury prevention movements. In the 80s we benched and squatted mostly and did some auxiliary shit to look bigger on the beach. The weight room at Lincoln in the 80s was about 800 sq ft for 100 varsity players. The one my kid used in hs was something like 20k sq ft. Can't remember but unbelievable.

That being said, my 87 team could beat Lincoln's current team, mainly because Lincoln continues to decline in enrollment and can barely get 30 kids.

Elsbury killed it, with something like a 9.81 RAS at 6-5 and 318. Jumped 30.5 and had excellent agility scores. I thought he'd get a good look because of the position flexibility, but hopefully now he'll get a really good look.

Nick Jackson ran 4.65 with excellent agility scores.

I would believe that these kids are going to have more problems down the road with their joints and the sheer amount of extra force exerted against each other in games and scrimmages which has to take a toll on the body as well. The force of collisions for these guys has to be a great deal more than even the pros experienced 30-40 years ago.

Love seeing the switch up of X at FS, Entriger at cash, and Lutmer at SS, with SS being the least play-making position on Parker’s defense.

This is Kirk’s quote. I enjoy his immediate stereotyping of Bay Area listening tastes

Then he said Waylon Jennings, and I'm like, how do you even know who Waylon Jennings is? The second thing is you're from the Bay Area; Waylon Jennings, are you kidding me? So that kind of tells you a little bit about Spencer. A different guy.

If your dad was the star of the team, that's a pretty significant indictment. Must have been a bunch of pansies.
