NOOOOOOOOPE.

Fran can stick around, Jack can go somewhere else, and I fully expect him to be pretty good. Don't care, not worth it.

Iowa gets tallish white kids who can sort of score. They will be just fine with Jack playing for Wake.

I don’t see any way Fran stays but jack plays elsewhere.

I think they saw the effect that the early commitments had on recruiting during previous cycles and are trying to avoid it.

That isn't the dumbest thing ever said on here, but you can kind of cut it up with occam's razor. I assume that he just has the type of personality that wants to do something different than his brothers. Also, throw in he inadvertently killed a man with his car, and the strange place Iowa is in as a program- largely pretty good, but never having a real breakthrough season and bored fans- and it makes sense that he's looking elsewhere and they aren't just gaming the recruiting class.

killing a dude was certainly one way to be different than his brothers.

Dont underestimate the example the negative experience pmac is having in influencing his bro. Its more obvious to jack than it was to patrick why playing for your dad may carry negatives. That along with accidentally killing that dude should make a change of scenery very attractive.

Butler lean, but still considering Hawks. Fran is not leaving either way.

If Fran is not leaving, good for him. Honestly he looks done to me but maybe he loves his guys.

He’s won lots of games. I’m just tired of the shit defense and no NCAA tournament success at all

Plus, I don’t care how good Jack might be, I really don’t care to have four years of another McCaffrey

What's not to love about a potential 11 straight years of McCaffery kids??

I have no idea who he was recruiting but Fran was in Pennsylvania recruiting last night.

I thought for sure Fran was done after this year. But I’ve changed my tune on that one. I wouldn’t be shocked if Sherm retired however.

Sherm essentially retired at least 5 years ago

On3 has him top 50.
On3 had a piece explaining why they are so much higher on him than their competitors.

Long story short, they weigh NBA potential more heavily than Rivals. Not going to copy and paste as the story isn't that interesting, but they call him an explosive athlete with a lengthy frame, the most natural rebounder in his class, and that he has huge defensive upside.

So, he's good at the stuff Iowa doesn't develop, and needs to develop in areas Iowa has had good luck developing. Pretty excited about him.

The 2 things Iowa needs to have happen over the next couple years is identifying a point guard and developing Dembele and Tadjo. Their offensive games are pretty raw but they bring the type of rebounding and defense that Iowa really hasn’t had under Fran.

The Sandforts/Koch should provide enough shooting to go with Freeman continuing to develop his low post game to move Iowa up a notch. If Harding is the guy at point guard, great. But they need to add some depth at that position bad. Also get another scorer like Perkins.

Fran told Dan Dakich that Iowa "has work to do with NIL." Time to get our shit together so we can win the portal? Maybe HALO can lead the charge? Bring Pat and Perkins back?

I'm drunk but these are brilliant thoughts

Aren’t most Big Ten programs other than Indiana and Purdue (and possibly Rutgers) struggling with basketball NIL?

I think he missed on some opportunities with NIL. He had some quality teams with a lot of talent and they all petered out in the postseason. A real opportunity to build momentum right before this NIL stuff picked up. Now I think a good chunk of Iowa fans are waiting for him to leave and see what's next.

He could also donate the value of his sons' decade worth of scholarships.

Illinois is at or near the top.
Yeah them too. I know there was talk about McDermott going to Ohio State but Ohio States basketball collective is barely better than Iowas while Creighton/the Big East have tons of money to throw around since they don’t have football.

Fran on vacation? I’ve barely even seen Iowa linked to anyone as being in contact.

Maybe they're a bit put off that Fran's roster looks like it was constructed in the 1930s
