agreed. next season, when he is a starter, and Tavion Banks, the senior starter at his position has graduated, then Cooper Koch will get starter type of minutes.

this year, PF is the most crowded position, and the head coach who notoriously favors defensive mindedness has a starter at the position that is a known good defender who started for said head coach last year.

in short, you are a FOOL, good sir.

i've heard he may not play at all.
they might start him over tavion first game as "punishment" for tavion's felony convictions. But over time when it becomes apparent coop can't play defense and his lung collapses again and he keeps skipping games to appear in netflix shows i suspect tavion will regain the start.

it's not like mccollum-coached teams have a reputation for great spacing and ball movement to create high percentage shots or anything, is it?

the bigger issue is interior defense, but only a handful of teams will really be able to take advantage of that.

I don't mind Howard as a hustle guy off the bench but he seems pretty limited offensively. This team needs Sage to turn into a stud and take most of those minutes if they are going to make the tourney imo.

we were outrebounded by both Robert Morris and Western Illinois. That seems like the "watch this space" stat for upcoming Iowa basketball games.

- Manyawu has been pretty bad on the boards so far this year, clocking in at just 8 rebounds per 40. For perspective, he averaged 11.9 and 11.2 rebounds per 40 in his two prior years of D1 ball.

- Banks' per 40 rebounding has similarly been subpar, going from 10 per 40 last year to just 7 per 40 this year.

- Folgers was an elite rebounder, at least statistically at Robert Morris last year at 12.4 per 40. Doubtless that will come down this year with the likely slower pace Iowa will play. But hopefully above his current 9.2 rate over 2 games so far this year.

I expect those numbers for all to improve, which will at least in part help correct the team's early season issue of being outrebounded by little sisters of the poor type teams.

If they can't correct this, it could be rough season.
