I feel like Kirk trusts Tim though. Or at least I WANT that to be true.
As long as Tim’s plan doesn’t leave us with a gritty undersized scrambler backed up by Hank Brown, I’ll trust it too.

Yeah I wonder if Kirk will spend $$ on a new QB or to retain his returning defensive studs lololololol

I keep hoping to see brown hit the portal. I’d rather have the incoming true freshman as backup

Sullivan's completion % in high-school was s similar to Jake Cs...

Generally those numbers don't improve in college

A good ROI on QB’s in the portal is becoming more and more challenging

and while I understand why the market is as inflated as it is… For a school with a somewhat limited, NIL budget… I’m not sure if playing in the deep end of that pool is very wise

I don’t think we should be going after proven P4 starters, but I do think we should be going after someone with a good shot to be better than Hank Brown. Probably a lower division guy or P2 backup stuck behind a stud.

Speaking of transfers, whatever happened to that OL from North Dakota named Cade Borud that transferred to Iowa after his true freshman season where he was named an All-American center?

There was talk that he might be able to step in and play right away, but I remember he got an OWI and then haven't heard about him since that happened. Looked at the roster and he's no longer on there. No news or article out there I could find on him quitting.

He was one of the turds from SE Polk, I think. They have a cultural problem there, it would appear.

I know when they were trimming the roster down to 105 he was one of the last couple that didn’t have a guaranteed spot. It was down to him and a couple others. I assume he was told to look elsewhere.

O line might be a position group at Iowa where it’s just really difficult to bring in transfers. Has not worked out very well

They’re more or less done doing it unless it’s a younger player. And at that point you’re better off just bringing in a high school player and developing them for 5 years.

Any of the portal OLine transfers we've brought in didn't pan out. But we aren't spending the money to bring in the oline talent that would pan out.

Makes sense, had just remembered him and hadn't heard anything since the initial articles and his OWI, but also remember now he didn't even get a scholarship.

I wouldn't write a guy off for 62%, 2000 yds 24 TD 5 Int, 8.9 ya and 700 yards rushing. I think we'd need to see him suck in Kinnick Stadium first.

62% his senior year?
Si. According to his roster profile. Maybe 54% as a junior, though. Big question is probably arm strength. He did run quite well in highlights. Kind of a poor man's Manske.

Yeah IIRC, he committed after his Jr year and I was prolly going off that.
I would think he's in an odd man out position, though. Two guys clearly ahead and a well regarded prospect coming in behind.

From the looks of it, barring a surprise, they won’t be taking a QB in the portal.

Wasn’t there a dude from Indiana a couple years ago that started most of the games on the Oline?

Coy Cronk and he was rotational. That was also the weird 2020 season.
