Kind of funny by Bert. Kid is actually in the ‘28 class.

These ones are always interesting. He's an Iowa City Regina kid, highly rated 4* LB and offers from Tennessee, West Virginia, Kansas State and Minnesota but no offers from Iowa and Iowa State.

Usually indicates terrible parents. I’m not saying that’s the case here and if they are related to Jeff in any way I’d be completely shocked.

@Pinehawk ?
His parents are great. Jeff would be his uncle. Yeah, I think it's just a case the Iowa is loaded at linebacker? ...but they just signed that kid from Bettendorf. Great family, hard working kid, multi-sport athlete. Will be interesting to see where he goes. I would have loved to see him at Iowa.

Wonder why he goes to Regina while his older brother went to West? Is he into the pedo stuff?
His mom teaches at Regina. His dad and uncle went to Regina. His older brother went to Regina before transferring to West (where he set West High's all-time passing record), because he thought that would provide a better path to college opportunities. Younger brother decided to stay at Regina and has ended up with some great scholarship offers.

That would explain Iowa, but Iowa State should be all over him in that case.

Classic instate recruit -

A four-sport athlete, Bingham also had considerable Division I interest in baseball. Currently, he is averaging 20.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game in basketball and is also a standout in track.

The kid is a stud and our next chance at a DeJean type freak.

Only that he’s been all state in every athletic endeavor he attempts and has been since he was a freshman.

I would have preferred Grain bin, IA but I’ll settle for Pleasantville. @ChipHilton is this a diamond?

Putting on the "sage for Lee" hat (IOW,talking out of my ass because there's nothing riding on it), he does kinda look like maybe a poor man's CDJ . I do wonder how much Coop looked like the can't miss Superman after his junior FB year, though. We'll see if he does anything in track.

Being a linebacker prospect, he naturally won't have quite corner speed and fluidity. Can he make 230-40 without becoming a different athlete? A slightly more athletic Ben Niemann would be a good thing, too. Ben was a good high school WR-safety and was gonna play WR at Northern Illinois.

We really been fortunate to have a few variations on the Cooper prototype in the last classes. Lutmer was mentioned, and he's really starting to live up to it. Not quite as fast, smooth and natural, but he continues to show more speed and playmaking ability all the time.
RVZ is the tall guy version. His only HS "failing" was not winning a 110HH or high jump title to do the Cooper trifecta. Preston Ries was the strong guy version. Played QB, dunked, extra heartbeat guy. Still hasn't done it on the field, though, except for special teams.

This year's candidate: Brody Schaffer. Smaller town QB, DB, made nice returns. Supposed 4.46 at Iowa camp.

Switching gears a bit, I'd like to know if Dylan Stecker has done any cool stuff on scout team this fall or in bowl prep. Can't be a Cooper prototype because he didn't play QB, but he showed some RVZ traits as a prep. He and Apollo Payne may bear some watching in the spring as walk-ons, along with Terrence Smith.
