Right? I mean, Iowa football is an unwatchable, unenjoyable mess right now, so why do you guys put yourselves through this? You don't watch TV or movies you don't enjoy, so why watch football - even from your favorite team - that you don't enjoy? Turn off the fucking TV and do something else or at the very least, watch any of the other games that are available at the same time. I know that the press conferences, articles, and general chatter will only frustrate me and piss me off. I don't want to be frustrated and pissed off, especially when it's easily avoidable, so I try not to pay any attention to it.
It’s a train wreck and I can’t look away.

The best thing is having a team that you didn't really expect to be good, be good. But up there on that list is hate watching a thing when the people in charge make it so hate-able. That's actually quite a lot of fun.

Q. What do you think is the root cause of your issues on offense?

A. Well the reality is we don't have a root cause. We have to look at everything. It's a matter of going back to the basics. That sounds easy but it's not always easy. In truth what you need to do is execute on early downs in order to have manageable situations on third down. But when you don't have those things happen you need to be able to react. And you know, our job as an offense is to score points. And to score touchdowns. And the truth of the matter is we're not doing that consistently enough. When you're on offense you need to posses the ball and come away with points. And avoid turnovers. Every turnover we got this year gave the other team the ball when we expected to have it. It's an issue at the end of the day. And when the ball was turned over like that it gives the other team an opportunity to score points when we were looking to score points ourselves. Again, that might sound basic, but in truth that's what all of us have to focus on. And not just me, but all of the coaches and staff and players in this building. But certainly me specifically as well.

Iowa currently 27th in turnover margin and 127th in scoring offense

Dear Brian,

By switching to a QB with some pocket presence, some athleticism, some poise, and a willingness to throw the ball to the WRs you would a) avoid some sacks, b) force the defense to cover a broader section of the field, and c) throw a bone to those fans to whom you've been serving shit stew for the past 24 months.

Lol at the thought of them even considering Padilla now. After these questions and answers he may as well sew that red hat to his head.
The fact that the guy with the 5th worst QBR on all of college football will also be the only one to take every single snap for his team that year will remain one of life’s greatest mysteries.

Because Sence isn’t often on time and on target. His completion % is terrible. He isn’t a good pocket passer, within the concept of the offense.

you have to assume if Padilla really was in an unplayable state, dogging practice to the point where he can't even run a play, they'd be more forthcoming throwing him under the boss. That's the only scenario where they aren't grossly incompetent..

He did not like the “have you considered stepping down” question.

He’s going to have to be removed and he never will be.

also:

Q: “What’s the downside of putting padilla in”
BF: “what would be the upside?”

Lol. What a fucking dumbass.
Spencer Petras is 125th in QBR out of 129 qualifying players. So I suppose the upside is anywhere from 1-124, with a downside of 126-129. I'll take our chances.

Look at the OL.
Not only are they really bad across the board not a single one of them has even close to average potential. Maybe Jones but he weighs about 100 pounds less than necessary.

This fact emphasizes the NEED to scheme away from the current offense. It’s literally retarded to keep doing the same shit. And it’s not just this year. Moving forward it might get worse.

Brian thinks he’s evaluated like he’s in elementary school. There are no “needs improvement” grades getting paid almost a million per year. You’re failing.31F7951C-A31B-46A3-B560-690169EF2786.jpeg

Every time there is a press conference like this, I’m reminded that your average football coach is a moron. Not in a funny, calling them stupid because we’re frustrated way, but genuinely on the verge of having an intellectual disability. Head coaches are probably closer to average, but still trend towards far below average intelligence.

And they don’t know it. Look at Brian trying to understand a simple question about the utility of a change. You might as well ask him to explain quantum entanglement. Can’t process a simple concept, and yet, he assumes everyone else is stupid.
