Aside from Harris and Entringer, they ALL sucked. Fun to watch Nwankpa run up to a guy and try to tackle him by spinning him around. The white guys in the secondary looked completely lost. Another lol-worthy dropped INT from Schulte as he got hit in the balls
That was his biggest hit last nightThe white guys in the secondary looked completely lost. Another lol-worthy dropped INT from Schulte as he got hit in the balls
just remember, there are no underlying racial issues in the program. My favorite thing was Hall getting pulled for not playing well and then watching Nestor get abused for the next 45 minutes.
X has been a massive disappointment. He needs to have a D-Rob type turnaround.Aside from Harris and Entringer, they ALL sucked. Fun to watch Nwankpa run up to a guy and try to tackle him by spinning him around.
This is what he doesn't get and why Iowa is stuck until it changes. It used to be that way and there was more to fight for and work towards, but now it's a race to 3 losses. Once you hit 3 losses, the season is over. Done. Fucked. Meaningless.
COVID year is one of the biggest farces there is. Iowa is even more fucked because now they have to play all of these guys and young guys aren't going to develop and be ready sooner like they should.Bringing a bunch of players back pretty much never works out for anyone. Black, Harris and Higgins have been good. Schulte has been terrible. Jackson’s been very meh. Kyler Fischer never made sense to bring back. I don’t even think Nick DeJong played last night. And Cade has sucked.
I also can’t figure out how the second cornerback spot is this bad. It’s Adam Shada bad. MSU attempted maybe 2 passes in Harris’ direction. Phil did nothing to help them out over there either. MSU didn’t even have any big plays. They just gashed Iowa 8 yards at a time.
We're free to root for Nebrantska, Wisconsin and Minnesota losses now.At least we don't have to discuss the playoffs anymore. We can put that behind us
Riley Moss got picked on against Minnesota but still picked off 2 passes. You could see potential. Nestor did absolutely nothing that makes me think he will be good.COVID year is one of the biggest farces there is. You are right about the corner spot. Nestor isn't "Riley Moss is a freshman at Purdue and got picked on and will be fine eventually", he's very unathletic and can barely keep his feet and can't ever hope to stick with Big Ten receivers. He's Tim Dodge bad.
I don't know if Iowa can beat Wisconsin. Badgers have seem to found an identity lately and have a solid defense with a fairly accurate QB.Iowa’s offense not participating in the first half was not optimal. No idea what they were doing. Cade is bad, but there’s more to it than that. I think they can win out at Kinnick but beating both Maryland and UCLA on the road seems unreasonable. Go hawks!
Nestor is close to Tim Dodge / Adam Shada level, he looks a step above a cornfed walk-on.Riley Moss got picked on against Minnesota but still picked off 2 passes. You could see potential. Nestor did absolutely nothing that makes me think he will be good.
I have no idea why Phil had him playing off coverage inside the 10 on Michigan States last touchdown. Once Chiles checked the play, he needed to come up and force them to beat him to the corner of the end zone. Instead they gave him the easiest throw possible and asked Nestor to make a 1 on 1 tackle where the other guy had a head start.
Across the board it was one of the worst coached games Iowas had in a long time.
i was suspicious when when Nestor was getting pumped up in spring and then really wasn’t playing at the beginning of the year.Riley Moss got picked on against Minnesota but still picked off 2 passes. You could see potential. Nestor did absolutely nothing that makes me think he will be good.

It feels like we say this an awful lot.Across the board it was one of the worst coached games Iowas had in a long time.
During the Renaissance Period upper class males aspired to have a gut like that because it was a sign of wealth and prosperity. Bert is a Renaissance Man.
The team that beat Washington is still in there somewhere. Wisconsin has ‘found themselves’ by beating Purdue, Rutgers (who just lost at home to UCLA) and Northwestern. Iowa isn’t playing for anything anymore, but the rest of their schedule is basically dog shit.I don't know if Iowa can beat Wisconsin. Didn't we think MSU was dogshit too?The team that beat Washington is still in there somewhere. Wisconsin has ‘found themselves’ by beating Purdue, Rutgers (who just lost at home to UCLA) and Northwestern. Iowa isn’t playing for anything anymore, but the rest of their schedule is basically dog shit.
They’ve lost to Ohio State, Oregon and on the road at Boston College. They have an extremely talented WR and QB that are young but have shown to be very very good coming off a bye.Didn't we think MSU was dogshit too?
Second year in a row that Schulte drops an INT that would have drastically changed the game. He's become one of my least favorite Phil Parker era players. I can't believe they didn't let him walk after last season. They’ve lost to Ohio State, Oregon and on the road at Boston College. That dropped interception by Schulte was killer. Chiles would have had 2 early picks and who knows where his confidence would have been. Then Iowa inserted John Nestor.
Nestor tripped over his own feet every time he had to switch his hips.Riley Moss got picked on against Minnesota but still picked off 2 passes. You could see potential. Nestor did absolutely nothing that makes me think he will be good.

The most disappointing part about the defense this game wasn't that they only gave up two touchdowns, it was that Michigan State had 8 different scoring drives. Could never stop them before midfield or a 3 and out.Lester also likes to adjust his game plan to how they defend each scripted play. The problem was Iowa kept going 3 and out and Michigan State kept going on long sustained drives that took tons of time off the clock.
I guess he could have abandoned the run and tried throwing more but they were likely going 3 and out either way. If we got to halftime and Kaleb Johnson had 5 carries that would have been a little fucked up.
I still can’t get over the fact that Iowa got it to within 1 score 3 different times in the second half and the defense never made a stop.
There aren't 6 more B10 games.Just pray for six more wins this year. He acts like he doesn't care about Woody but he does
They call him the quarterback of the defense which is bad considering how they pick the quarterback of the offense. They only brought him back because Entringer suffered a knee injury against Tennessee and they thought he was going to miss the season. Then he was fine and their hands were tied so they just had to start Schulte.Second year in a row that Schulte drops an INT that would have drastically changed the game. It usually took them 1 or 2 plays to get into Iowa territory. They’re the worst red zone team in the Big Ten and it showed. They killed themselves with false starts and holding calls. The most disappointing part about the defense this game wasn't that they only gave up two touchdowns, it was that Michigan State had 8 different scoring drives. In fact, Michigan State never punted a single time.
