That being said, Iowa's defense has been so bad the last few years I'm not going to diminish a good defensive effort regardless of opponent.

Minnesota is bad, but they shut them down in the second half. It was a more aggressive physical defensive game than they had been playing.

Pat played a whole game under control for the first time in my memory. Keegan was a dominant force again. The rebounding has gotten better all around. I have loved Sandfort ever since he got here -- has such a quick release and is tall enough to shoot over defenders. I think he is a better 3pt threat at this point than bohannon who seems to be reduced to the YOLO 3s from the logo only.

I don't think Fran is being unfair to Joe, he just doesn't tolerate bad offense as much as he does poor defense.

I have a feeling that Joe's patented drive to the paint, reverse pivot, then nearly turn it over while passing it back out move, doesn't exactly sit well with Fran. Ulis misses too many easy ones, but he gets things going. Joe drives into no man's land and makes it a really easy recovery for the defense.

What halodork (and I gotta admit even much of HROT) doesn't get is that bohannon's presence alone makes him a plus offensive player in this offense. If he misses his next 30 threes the other team will be guarding him out to 25 feet on his 31st attempt. I shouldn't have to spell out to halodork the implications of this, but here goes: this opens up a lot of lanes. Now, if Iowa had another guard that was any kind of threat to make a 3, maybe I could be convinced otherwise. But that clearly isn't the case.

Not to mention he's a good ball-handler and knows the right read when the defense is rotating. Halodork might understand this as making the pass before the assist.

Yeah he's a liability on defense but not as much as he was in years past. He's giving full-effort on that end.

So I guess what I'm saying is stop with the "don't play bohannon" posts because halo needs fewer dorks who don't understand basketball.

it has always felt like Fran has a quick hook with The Key. I think it's hard for some guys to play well with that hanging over their heads. Not that Joe was ever gonna be all big ten, but he could be average to above average. Guys can play lazy d all night- no big deal. The two foul rule is a perfect counter to your stupid point, actually. Fran has a stricter two foul rule than basically every other coach in the country. There are ~300 other Division 1 coaches who would disagree with Fran on the extent to which he benches his best players. So there are two possibilities: 1) Iowa has the smartest, best coach in the country, or 2) "Fran is a coach and knows more than you" is an illogical blanket statement used in defense of particular decisions.
