Hockenson is really fucking good. This is the best combo of TE's that Iowa has ever had.

They were soooooo happy after that touchdown and then Wadley gutted them and Stanley finished them off.

@ivan_drago what the fuck was that guy in the red shirt doing cheering for Wadley when he was about to score.

Was he some Iowa fan in a red shirt? Iowa State fan screaming at his guys to get him?

He fucking missed Fant AGAIN deep.
From the Athletic today...

Strangely, one of his worst games for overthrows also was one of his best. In his five-TD pass, no-interception performance at Iowa State, in which he led the Hawkeyes in a double-digit comeback, Stanley overthrew four open receivers that would have resulted in big plays or scores.

“Those balls are about timing and anticipation,” O’Keefe said this spring. “Now he has a better feel. There were times last year it didn’t fit right. With play-action, the fake is involved and you lose sight of where the read is, but that comes with experience. We made progress through the course of the year. Nate works hard at it.”

....

Stanley says many of his deep incompletions were on late reads. By the time he threw the ball, he launched it to make sure it wasn’t intercepted. With more experience and renewed comfort with his receiving corps, Stanley’s reads were faster this spring.

Friday Night Lights has been off the air so long that this batch of film kids doesn't know that it's what they're supposed to copy.

It'd be good if Hesse didn't suck at talking. The Daniels one wasn't any less goofy, he just made it work by throwing himself into it like he was cutting a promo on the Ultimate Warrior

I'm usually happy when one of these videos doesn't have grating hippy hop shit music, but that sucked.

Yeah...that wasn't as good as some of the others but how quickly we forget how terrible the marketing was just a few years ago.

I don't know if this has been posted yet, but I think they updated a few start times. The first 5 games are going to be 2:30pm or later.

It will depend on record, but possible that 6 of last 7 games are 11am

Weird that they probably get to mid-October before an 11 AM start.

It is the weirdest Iowa schedule that I can ever remember. No 11am or road game until October. From Sept. 23rd until Nov. 10th they have 1 home game. Possibly 5 or 6 11am games to end the season.

UNI at night?
UNI and maybe Wisconsin and Penn State.
Fox/ABC only have one B10 home prime time first three weeks (Akron/Nebrantska on Fox, ABC does have Penn State/Pitt and Ohio State/TCU), I think those are supposed to be more common so I am guessing either Wisconsin/Iowa or Nebrantska/Michigan winds up at night on Fox/ABC on September 22. Nebrantska has a soft opening few weeks (Akron/Colorado/Troy at home), I could see that getting picked for “Nebrantska is back/Frost’s first test” hype.

The Fox contract also opens up more time slots in the 12 PM or 3 PM range.

Kirk schedule. All 4 September games at home, ISU in week 2, night game to get past letdown vs UNI, top it off with Wisconsin and see how good they are. Bye week, and take a pro team on the road.

Northwestern/Purdue has moved from its mid-October 11 AM BTN loop in hell to the Thursday night ESPN opener.

It’s weird bur potentially promising. A little down/up in September for Iowa State and then Wisconsin who will be playing their first road/real opponent. Bye week to avoid a letdown and then three winnable games to set up a revenge trip to Pedo. Hate the Purdue timing but November sets up well for a strong finish.

Dochterman tells me Fox’s WS coverage means no night game for PSU.

Interesting idea shamelessly stolen from TOS. I wonder if we could see Daivyon Nixon for 4 games at the end of the season if his academics are going well. They definitely won't talk about it, but that could be an interesting surprise in the middle of a November game.

About the only thing keeping UW from another undefeated season is a possible night game in Kinnick

Yeah I was thinking Penn St at night didn't seem likely. Hope I'm wrong.

Or Hornibrook playing in Kinnick at night
He's pretty good when throwing to an open guy down the sidelines. Not so much when throwing into a crowd over the middle. Oh, to have #15 out there for just one game...
