Probably already mentioned, but the Big Ten is now 7-0 in bowl games so far.

Anyone know a timeline of when our guys are going to announce draft decisions? Which way they are leaning right now?

hope w/e the deal was with Alaeric doesn't lead to him leaving.

Given he traveled with the team and was at the bowl game, I doubt it. Pretty sure he doesn't want to lose another year when he had the potential to leave early in 2 years.

Kakert said on his podcast (I know I know) that Wiegers is going to Eastern Michigan, Falconer didn’t even travel to the bowl game and wouldn’t be shocked if Boswell and Boyle left.

They usually put a couple walk ones on scholarship but they should have a few extra scholarships to use for recruiting. Wouldn’t mind seeing them go after another receiver, O lineman and linebacker.

I hope Alaric didn’t flunk an internal piss test. That’s usually the reason for suspensions like this.

Sounded like it was something with academics from the way Kirk talked about it but from what he said it sounds like he's been fine since then and is on track to come back so I'm not that worried about it

Line wouldn't hurt but they've already got a lot of young talent there and have the makings of a really good OL class next year so I think they're fine mostly punting on it this cycle. Linebacker would definitely be nice, especially if they could find a decent juco guy to push for playing time right away.

The Big Ten is clearly the best conference, top to bottom, this year. The fact that the best conference in the country would go unrepresented in the playoffs is pure bullshit, and a strong argument for an 8-team playoff system.

No its an argument for a retarded committee & system that rewards playing a shitty schedule.
Every single member of that committee needs to go. They have failed miserably the past two seasons at something that is incredibly easy to do.

Cut the regular season by one game. Expand playoffs to 16 teams. 5 conference championship games and 3 at-large games.

16 is fucking stupid.

Why stop there? 32? 64?

4 is perfect, preserves the regular season - all games matter. just need to have non-retards deciding the 4.

16 is too many. I think I'd prefer 8. 5 conference champions and 3 at large. No matter how many teams get in you will have a few that are left out that bitch. Same thing happens with March madness.

No, the correct number is 6 teams. You have the 6 best teams, the #1 and #2 get a bye. The whole "have to be a conference champion" thing is fucking stupid with unbalanced schedules and the championship game.

I tend to agree with @douglasbader . 6 would work, but again, they have to start over with the committee. It isn't working. They've fucked it up twice now. One year no conference can have two, the next year one shitty shitty conference gets two. They're worse than your average weatherman at this point.

Start over with the committee, put folks like @Shawneemicks on that fucker and away we go.

I think we're headed to 4 conferences with 16 teams at the end of all the GOR. Each conference has 2 divisions. Those champions meet in conference championship games which are effectively the first round of the playoffs.

Scheduling would work something like the NFL. Play all the teams in your division, along with a certain number from the other division in your conference plus a team or two from a random and rotating other division/conference.

Michigan being the team to fuck this up is much much much funnier than 8-0 would have been
How in hell do you lead 19-3 late in the third quarter, and end up losing 26-19? Michigan really crapped their pants late in the game. From the sounds of it, there's unrest in Ann Arbor.

Not these days. Lets be honest @AZmess , @Shawneemicks has had this shit all figured out every step of the way.
For about a decade the Big Ten sucked & Shawnee called 'em out. Now Shawnee is correctly saying this is the best the Big Ten has been in maybe ever. Shawnee would have had OSU & Penn St both in the playoff last year & would have had OSU this year. In fact I could make a damn good argument for two THIS year.

So, in summary, fuck you!

I don't like byes either, unless it's the Vikings getting one in the NFL playoffs. In college, no team is so much better than the others that they deserve a bye. Besides, the rankings are very subjective anyway. Make each team play for the championship - no byes. Eight teams makes a perfect playoff.

Why wouldn’t he take the Indy job and a reunion with Andrew Luck instead? That seems like a much better fit

I sort of limit the Andrew luck thing since he is a broken-ass dead body.

Even though all five will end up in anyway, I don’t like a conference championship being an auto bid. In basketball it’s fine I guess, mostly because it’s part of the history, but with only 6 or 8 teams don’t write in stone a way for a 3 loss team to get in. With conferences having divisions you’re just asking for it.

P5 conference champ plus 3 at large. This is actually very simple and the only logical way to do it.

Counterpoint: it keeps Iowa in the conversation into November almost every year.

No. Take the best 6 teams.
Why are you stuck on 6 teams?
Because it doesn't fuck everything up. It adds 2 extra games for only 2 teams and that is it. You can keep everything else the way it is.

Play those #6 vs. #3 and #5 vs. #4 games 2 weeks after the conference championship games. Then you have the normal schedule you currently have playing the semi-final games on or around Jan. 1st and the championship on Jan. 8th

I think 6 is fine on paper, but would get all fucked up in reality. Selecting the two teams that get a HUGE advantage of getting a bye is not something I’m confident any group of people can do well.

Drawing a line between 2-3 and then 6-7 will trigger meltdowns all over the place. Drawing a line between 8-9 would have some too, but not nearly as bad IMO.

At some point the adults have to win out and tell the children to fuck off. If anyone is bitching over the #7 team, go fuck yourself.

Lol

This didn’t work when it was the third team getting left out

It’s not working with the fifth team getting left out

I’m sure it will be totally better when it’s the 7th....

I’m sure That’s when everyone will just agree to say “fuck them”

I agree, but picking between 2 and 3 is a pretty fucking big deal under the 6 team scenario.

Let's expand it to 16 or 32 since someone might cry about who the #7 or #9 team is.

Fuck off.

Not to mention that the difference between 6 teams in your scenario and 8 teams doesn’t change the number of rounds at all. It’s still a three round system.

Why does saving one set of games matter at all?

Because you don't need the #7 and #8 team.
