a couple will go to fran's office and be told iowa is no longer a good fit -- maybe dembele and tadjo (but pryce, freeman, and harding will stay)

fran will go pg shopping and maybe get another thelwell-level guy

I would assume BDB and Fran talk about a buyout that is less than the full contract buyout but more than him retiring and getting nothing. He gets to retire on his own terms (without getting fired) with an extra chunk of change and Iowa saves a little vs flat out firing him. Everyone walks away in a decent spot.

Fran could walk away right now with a pretty decent legacy. No sense in him ruining that, but again this is the same guy who thinks you can be competitive in the tournament without playing any defense or black guards.
