Was Keno Davis ever on scholarship or ever play a minute in conference play?
Fuck that. There is no reason to GET PISSED! until he logs meaningful minutes undeservedly.
Same. Arms are folded tightly with a slight frownI’m done.
The other factor always at play when bringing your kid on the roster is you have to deal with mom as well.
Marge always looks like she just ripped a nasty fart.
Point guard feeding frenzy. Overvalued in the Spring.
Giffa won't do shit and their collective will bitch about how much they paid him.
He has to be on scholarship. There’s no other choice. Is McCollum a retard? What a fucking moron.
LOLOLOLOLOLTeammates might feel like they're walking on eggshells around a coaches kid. I hope that kid is gone after this year
But wouldn't they have already been saving from in state tuition? He has to be on scholarship. There’s no other choice.
Are rosters not limited to 15 either way now? You can have 15 players. They all can be walk ons or all be scholarships but you can’t go over 15.That would be true if he was a PWO like everyone expected. If he's using a scholarship keeping them from adding a mid season transfer, or future recruit, I'd say the time is now.
It’s not even about the numbers. It’s about having a player you are not able to coach objectively. A player who is not going to be judged strictly on merit. A player who is going to be treated differently than anyone else with the same skills and ability. At a minimum it's lazy. Sure guy 13 is going to do much but now you've wasted a scholarship for the next four years.
I guarantee you he’s not going to be on scholarship for four years and play zero minutesHe’s not getting anywhere near the court. McCollum is not an idiot and there’s zero chance that he is unaware of the last 17 years.
I don’t give a shit if he’s playing in a blowout.I guarantee you he’s not going to be on scholarship for four years and play zero minutes
I want this to be true very much soHe’s not getting anywhere near the court. McCollum is not an idiot and there’s zero chance that he is unaware of the last 17 years.
So you went from “not getting anywhere near the court” to acknowledging he will play. Not that far from playing in a blowout to playing minutes in games that matter, which he will.I don’t give a shit if he’s playing in a blowout.
Jesus ChristSo you went from “not getting anywhere near the court” to acknowledging he will play. Not that far from playing in a blowout to playing minutes in games that matter, which he will.
I'd feel better about that if we weren't fresh off a year where Kingsbury was playing series minutes in a lot of gamesIt is unbelievable how coaches just have to have their kids on the team…but people are getting way too caught up in the scholarship part. He’s occupying a spot on the roster. If he was a ‘walk on’ then they would just be using 14 scholarships instead of 15.
It basically comes down to whether he’s on the team or guys like Carter Kingsbury or Austin Ash are. If any of those players play any serious minutes at any point in the season your team is fucked anyway.
And Iowa basically sucked which was my point. And 99% of that roster is gone.I'd feel better about that if we weren't fresh off a year where Kingsbury was playing series minutes in a lot of games
Good point! BMC is a failure at Iowa depending on how his kid plays. Love the logicFuck that.
How many times do we have to see a coach set himself up for failure due to this shit? Even letting them walk on is a danger. You're a couple injuries or a transfer away from telling your eldest born son to tear off that warmup and get in the game. It's bad enough as a walk-on, but now you put him on full scholarship and there is extra pressure to play him or you have to face cries and questions and think you have to justify his scholarship with playing time.
Did those AD’s have the same issues with nepotism that the Iowa AD has had the past 20 years?Brad Calipari, Steven Izzo, Isaac Gard. There have been plenty of coaches kids through the years that suck, everyone knows they suck and they never play a meaningful minute. Most of them go into coaching after they are done. If it becomes a Sam Hoiberg situation where he plays double digits minutes as a freshman and eventually 20+ mins a game then there are bigger issues with McColllum.
Or takes up a roster spot that could have gone to someone somewhat competent at playing basketball. There is no reason to GET PISSED! until he logs meaningful minutes undeservedly.
Great point. Big dick Beth has been here for just 2 of those years and fired Kirk’s son, Brian Ferentz and canned Fran.Did those AD’s have the same issues with nepotism that the Iowa AD has had the past 20 years?
I actually do, which is why I microwave it for 20-25 secondsGood Lord, some of you folks would bitch if your ice cream was too cold. Sheesh
….and just hired a coach that ended up bringing on his son from Waukee with no other offers.Great point. Big dick Beth has been here for just 2 of those years and fired Kirk’s son, Kirk’s son, Brian Ferentz and canned Fran.
Competent players want to be paid, homieOr takes up a roster spot that could have gone to someone somewhat competent at playing basketball.
Well, L Wade, sometimes fathers of grossly undertalented boys do what they can to help their kids’ careers despite of what a lost cause that is.Nothing helps locker room chemistry like the grossly under talented kid of a disciplinarian hanging out in the locker room for 5 years.
If you can't be outraged that first team all state basketball player Peyton McCollum is the 13th guy off the bench for Iowa, I dont know what to sayGood Lord, some of you folks would bitch if your ice cream was too cold. Sheesh
We’re all on the McCollum bandwagon, Fletch. Its ok to say this is just a stupid thing to do and hope it turns out to be nothing.
There is absolutely zero evidence that we will not be at the bottom of the conference next yearAnd Iowa basically sucked which was my point. And 99% of that roster is gone.
