I can't over how Iowa State fans either are delusional or were hoodwinked into buy 61,500 tickets to the first two games. I assumed they believed they were going to beat Iowa but what objective person could have optimism based upon this:

Your head coach is in his seventh year at the school. In years 5 and 6 he had a record of 5-19. Your team hasn't had a winning record since his first season - 2009. His conference record is 10-38.

It's Iowa State, there is zero history in football and they have to resort to all kinds of things to draw crowds. Not saying it's impossible for them to find the guy to build a good program at some point, but it's highly unlikely.

the casual but dedicated fan (CF seems to have turned on him but we're talking alums, ticket buyers, etc.) seem to consider him a good coach. it's amazing considering the evidence against.

The only reason he has a job is because he beat Oklahoma State in 2011 and a couple of mediocre Iowa teams. Any other coach would have been fired already.

I remember people on Cyclonefanatic talking about going to the airport to greet the team. I like to imagine them chanting "3 and 9!" with enthusiasm as the team walks off the plane.
