Only way they can get a recruiting bump is when they run a coach out of town every 3-4 years and start anew. That's always good for a few players

2016 is even more devoid of hope for them and they only have 6 commits in this recruiting class. They have no running back and will have to rely on Lanning to Lazard.
So, I can understand why a kid like Lazard would choose Iowa State over Iowa - proximity to home, legacy, and it's not like Iowa has a record of getting receivers into the NFL.

But what the fuck was Campos thinking? Iowa would have turned him into our next high-1st Round draft pick. He'd be sitting at left tackle as Scherff's heir apparent right now...but instead he's part of that gelatinous group of linemen they've got over there. What does a good career get him at Iowa State? Maybe the third round?

That kid seriously fucked up.

And now he's celebrating missed game winning field goals.

So...a second round pick, then? I'm not sure that necessarily counters what I was trying to say. One Osemele isn't exactly the track record of Bulaga, Scherff, and Reiff (not counting Yanda because he wasn't a high pick).

Semi-related, but Osemele has been great for the Ravens. They'll probably have to either let him or Yanda walk after the season. :(

I have to think you pay Yanda there. He still has another contract's worth of elite play and he's the best guard in football. Plus he's signed through 2016 or 2017, so if you sign Yanda you at least get a couple more years of them together.

Contract year for both of them. Yanda is the superior player right now for sure, but he's 5 years older. It'll be a tough call.

Obviously, Iowa has the superior track record with offensive linemen and it isn't close...hell I've been friends with one of them since I was 5 years old. But you asked what he could possibly be thinking picking Iowa and I pointed out one of the better young offensive linemen in football was a tackle at Iowa State. KO was playing at ISU, getting drafted, and more importantly starting as a rookie on a Super Bowl winning team right at the time that Campos was being recruited. Also, I don't think that Iowa was much in the picture for Campos. Narrowed it to Mizzou and ISU pretty early on.

Campos switched to ISU during the peak upswing era. he might have actually been peak upswing personified.

Cut the kid some slack. He made the point during his recruiting that Iowa State puts weight on players the RIGHT way.

ISU got through this last weekend unscathed, amazingly. Don't think they'll get lucky enough for two in a row.

Chris Williams says Iowa State has their best defense since 2005. Plus they have the best receivers maybe in the conference. They have a 4th year starting QB. Plus an experienced line. But may only win 2 games because of schedule.

Texas = garbage
Okie Lite = garbage
Kansas = the worst p5 team in the history of Western Civilization
Texas Tech = will be shown to be mediocre IMO
Kansas State = horrific QB situation

TCU = good but has lost 28 defensive starters to injury
Baylor = overrated. good offense and will hang 70 on ISU per usual.
Oklahoma = not as good as usual

Down year overall for B12 in spite of TCU/Baylor's lofty rankigns. They essentially play touch football.

looking like an uphill climb for the B12 to get a playoff team. committee ain't in a rush to reward Baylor with its scheduling, they have to go to TCU anyhow, and TCU's defensive injuries are crushing it. the ACC sucks outside of Clemson, who will probably beat Notre Dame (TCU-like injuries) and then Clemson at some point.

Playoff is probably going to be SEC, B10, and P12 champs and then the best 2nd-place team out of those three.

Lol at the receivers comment. They couldn't get open against Iowas 5th corner Joshua Jackson who was playing wide receiver a month ago.

They need to get Akron off their schedule.
BTW..the B12 is always overrated, they put up big numbers playing each other because the defense played in that league is atrocious.

"When Beaty arrived in December, he inherited just 42 scholarship players with eligibility remaining in 2015, just less than half of the NCAA’s 85-scholarship limit; based on the current roster, and after accounting for the 2015 recruiting class, the scholarship count heading into the season sits at 68, still nowhere near the cap. Of that number, the vast majority will be in their first or second year on campus: Only 20 of the 74 players signed in the 2011-13 classes remain, leaving the depth chart and the locker room largely devoid of a veteran presence. Not only do the Jayhawks lack the raw talent to compete in the Big 12, but after the attrition that accompanied Weis’s arrival and the subsequent failure of his juco investments, they lack the players."

**Charlie Weis is still getting paid by Notre Dame

Not according to these guys. Lazard is putting up huge numbers these years. Like he's got 15 catches for 150 yards. That's an average of 5 catches for 50 yards/game, boyz. Yesterday, Randy said Warren is on his way to being the first Cyclone since 2010 to lead the team is rushing for four years. So far, he has 154 career rushing yards.

Seemingly every time Iowa State has needed a big play, quarterback Sam Richardson has turned to Lazard.
he's averaging 10 yards per catch but OK I guess

also

he is tied for the team lead in touchdown receptions (1).
might be the funniest thing Randy has written
