Cyclone Fanatic once had an explanation to that question from a couple years ago. Both Michigan and the Lions offered him without even interviewing him. And the Lions were going to pay him $68MM (again, without even interviewing him!!!!). And Michigan would have fired Harbaugh if Campbell agreed to go there. They didn't want him to interview first, because Ohio State fans would have made fun of them when Iowa State's coach turned them down.Is it really loyalty when you’re interviewing?
The agent criticism is odd...he has a lawyer that does essentially what an agent would do, but doesn't take 3% of his salary each year.A reminder that particular moron doesn’t haven an agent. He absolutely thinks any AD or search firm that contacts him is offering him the job.
Sure he does. That Campbell file ain't gonna pay attention to itself. The agent criticism is odd...he has a lawyer that does essentially what an agent would do, but doesn't take 3% of his salary each year.
Did someone say that?Negotiating the specifics of a contract for a fee is not “essentially” what an agent does.
is this the first time in halo history the lawyers didn't get paid? The agent criticism is odd...he has a lawyer that does essentially what an agent would do, but doesn't take 3% of his salary each year.
It's possible others have already said this, but if NIL kills ISU football we should all line up to blow Ivan at the Sculpture Park.It all really is unsustainable. The next round of TV contracts might be ugly, because linear cable should be just about dead and there won't be nearly as many bidders due to the streaming wars being over. The days of free for all spending are done in that realm.
Iowa Football home ticket for any game worth a shit are $199 or $179 face value plus tax and fees. That is fine as long as some sort of winning continues, but you hit a couple losing seasons and you will have thousands and thousands and thousands of empty seats.
Iowa State is going to be forced into a choice. They either have to drop football or they have to drop other sports and still find a way to cut the football budget. As someone mentioned before, their best choice would be to drop football and go all in on basketball. They can and should be another Creighton.
Agreed! It's possible others have already said this, but if NIL kills ISU football we should all line up to blow Ivan at the Sculpture Park.
I believe they are already at the division one minimumIt all really is unsustainable. What exactly would make them attractive to private equity? My guess is Jamie might go crawling to private equity sooner than later.
I didn't say they would help him. What exactly would make them attractive to private equity?
I think all the FBS leagues have opted in, but most are going to find out the reward just isn’t there.Iowa State trying to act like they are one of the big boy schools and thinking they can spend the $20 million a year is just dumb. Guessing Pollard thinks the Board of Regents will bail them out. The $147 million deficit is likely optimistic on their part. Raising ticket prices isn't going to help that much.
Maybe they should schedule like a MAC school and take the payout and play non conference games on the road against SEC or Big 10 schools
OhI didn't say they would help him.
@newsbreaker pointed this out in regards to the 20 million for revenue sharing that they will not just be asking for several million this year but every year going forward forever. I also assume that whatever they pay Iowa State will open a can of worms that every state school will say that they're entitled to the same amount of money which makes it even more expensive. State of Iowa does not have money for that shitI just figure the BOR will screw Iowa somehow to make sure isu can continue. Fairly certain that’s the next step
We are headed into some real budget issues at the state level, as well.@newsbreaker pointed this out in regards to the 20 million for revenue sharing that they will not just be asking for several million this year but every year going forward forever. And I'm sure giving money to Iowa States athletic department and everyone else's will go over greatWe are headed into some real budget issues at the state level, as well.
I can look it up, but, the MAC, Mountain West, etc are going to pay $20 million or just a smaller amount? I saw Drake was going to pay something.I think all the FBS leagues have opted in, but most are going to find out the reward just isn’t there.
I thought the MWC decided to do the full 20M. Same for the other leagues, assuming I read correctly.I can look it up, but, the MAC, Mountain West, etc are going to pay $20 million or just a smaller amount? I saw Drake was going to pay something.
Doesn't look they will do the full 20M. Their top revenue school is SD State at $91 million.I thought the MWC decided to do the full 20M. Same for the other leagues, assuming I read correctly.
I don't think they can keep it up, honestly, but they don't have a choice other than to try.
