PlentyHey @TVan is there something you like abt Iowa football?

Normally I'd be pessimist, but this is a Tim Lester deal all the way. They're both from the same town in Illinois I believe so they had a connection before. Hopefully it will work out, from what I've read the kid wants to get his money as well.
Bring in Walker White with Hank and things will probably break bad.
So essentially the coach is "donating" part of his salary towards a collective? There's nfw they can let this happen.Instead of firing coaches, the trend will now be the school tells them they will cut their pay and use it to pay the players. Lol what a fucking joke this whole thing is.
How is this a bad thing?Instead of firing coaches, the trend will now be the school tells them they will cut their pay and use it to pay the players. Lol what a fucking joke this whole thing is.
The school is now paying players with virtually no oversight. How is this a bad thing?
Clever accounting. Who’s gonna stop them? The NCAA???So essentially the coach is "donating" part of his salary towards a collective? There's nfw they can let this happen.
because he wants to save this job rather than have to go re-prove himself at FIUIf you're norvell why aren't you telling them to GFT and to pay you what they owe?
That's a completely different point. You asked how it's a bad thing.Clever accounting. Who’s gonna stop them? The NCAA???
What went from just having a bad couple days is now you having a bad month. How is this a bad thing?
JfcSo instead of a HC only making $10 million a year they make 5 and the rest is split among athletes. Who cares
I mean it won't usually be a direct haircut to existing salaries, but once they implement revenue sharing this is inevitable. The main reason coach salaries are so high is because you weren't able to pay talent directly. So instead of a HC only making $10 million a year they make 5 and the rest is split among athletes. Who cares
People that have loved college football for decades and don't want to see it further devolve into shitSo instead of a HC only making $10 million a year they make 5 and the rest is split among athletes. Who cares
And isn't this just part of the $20 million that schools are allowed to pay?So instead of a HC only making $10 million a year they make 5 and the rest is split among athletes. Who cares
I don’t love it either but it’s never going back to what it was. Too much money. It’s basically a pro sport nowPeople that have loved college football for decades and don't want to see it further devolve into shit
No shit, but pro sports have rules and salary caps and collective bargaining. This is a wild west free for all with no rules or oversight. It's fucking garbage and needs to be fixed and this is not the way to fix it.I don’t love it either but it’s never going back to what it was. Too much money. It’s basically a pro sport now
I think once you have revenue sharing, contracts and collective bargaining figured out, then NIL can be solved. You simply do what pro leagues do and the schools can't have anything to do with it at all and put teeth to the enforcement.Salary cap would be great but there’s still NIL to get around it
You don't have to ruin it.You don’t have to watch.
It's the enforcement that's the issue. No one is afraid of the NCAAI think once you have revenue sharing, contracts and collective bargaining figured out, then NIL can be solved. You simply do what pro leagues do and the schools can't have anything to do with it at all and put teeth to the enforcement.
It wouldn't be the NCAA. If/when they form this, it's going to be a different entity. It's the enforcement that's the issue. No one is afraid of the NCAA
the thought seems to be that as part of revenue sharing the schools will be buying exclusive rights to a player's NIL rights. enforcement would be better because you have someone signing and potentially violating a contract.I think once you have revenue sharing, contracts and collective bargaining figured out, then NIL can be solved. You simply do what pro leagues do and the schools can't have anything to do with it at all and put teeth to the enforcement.
This is also why schools have ridiculous facilities, and support staff. The problem is that most of these facilities were built with borrowed money and then repaid with donations. Now those donations are going to the players directly. Guess who’s gonna be left on the hook paying for the facilities?I mean it won't usually be a direct haircut to existing salaries, but once they implement revenue sharing this is inevitable. The main reason coach salaries are so high is because you weren't able to pay talent directly.
Doing it to a collective is shadier but revenue sharing is coming.
The $100m in TV money per year.Guess who’s gonna be left on the hook paying for the facilities?
The schools with their gazillion dollar TV deals? This is also why schools have ridiculous facilities, and support staff. The problem is that most of these facilities were built with borrowed money and then repaid with donations. Now those donations are going to the players directly. Guess who’s gonna be left on the hook paying for the facilities?
Schools won’t want to fund a buyout as they need that for revenue sharing.Instead of firing coaches, the trend will now be the school tells them they will cut their pay and use it to pay the players. Lol what a fucking joke this whole thing is.
“I don’t know what I’m talking about so lol, you guys”You guys are so cute
We did it!I don’t know what to tell you.
Whites?Oh, you just wait. Eventually, someone will realize that these new rules disproportionately hurt black kids. And then someone will have to pay for that too.
Your mom?Oh, you just wait. Eventually, someone will realize that these new rules disproportionately hurt black kids. And then someone will have to pay for that too.
I’d make him an aggressive financial offer. He’ll end up at Michigan or Ohio State but they need to try.0% chance Iowa can afford him, but Beau Pribula has entered the portal and Tyler Barnes started following him.
He’s 1 play away from being the starter in a playoff game but is apparently opting out.
