0% chance Iowa can afford him, but Beau Pribula has entered the portal and Tyler Barnes started following him.

He’s 1 play away from being the starter in a playoff game but is apparently opting out.

Instead of firing coaches, the trend will now be the school tells them they will cut their pay and use it to pay the players. Lol what a fucking joke this whole thing is.

So essentially the coach is "donating" part of his salary towards a collective? There's nfw they can let this happen.

If you're norvell why aren't you telling them to GFT and to pay you what they owe?

So instead of a HC only making $10 million a year they make 5 and the rest is split among athletes. Who cares

I mean it won't usually be a direct haircut to existing salaries, but once they implement revenue sharing this is inevitable. The main reason coach salaries are so high is because you weren't able to pay talent directly.

Doing it to a collective is shadier but revenue sharing is coming.

People that have loved college football for decades and don't want to see it further devolve into shit
I don’t love it either but it’s never going back to what it was. Too much money. It’s basically a pro sport now

No shit, but pro sports have rules and salary caps and collective bargaining. This is a wild west free for all with no rules or oversight. It's fucking garbage and needs to be fixed and this is not the way to fix it.

Salary cap would be great but there’s still NIL to get around it

I think once you have revenue sharing, contracts and collective bargaining figured out, then NIL can be solved. You simply do what pro leagues do and the schools can't have anything to do with it at all and put teeth to the enforcement.

It's the enforcement that's the issue. No one is afraid of the NCAA

the thought seems to be that as part of revenue sharing the schools will be buying exclusive rights to a player's NIL rights. enforcement would be better because you have someone signing and potentially violating a contract.

This is also why schools have ridiculous facilities, and support staff. The problem is that most of these facilities were built with borrowed money and then repaid with donations. Now those donations are going to the players directly. Guess who’s gonna be left on the hook paying for the facilities?

I am quite confident that the average student athlete would rather get paid 2 million and sleep in a disheveled tent in a homeless camp rather than get paid 1 million and go to a school with nice athletic facilities.

Schools won’t want to fund a buyout as they need that for revenue sharing.

Looks like that WR from Troy that we couldn’t cover is in the portal.

You realize that the argument has never been “why don’t they pay us $X,XXX??!!”

if you think lawyers representing the athletes are going to sit back and watch the institutions continue to keep a high percentage of the revenues, I don’t know what to tell you.

It will never end.

The insane money college coaches were making is what led us to this. They can take a pay cut and be fine with it

Oh, you just wait. Eventually, someone will realize that these new rules disproportionately hurt black kids. And then someone will have to pay for that too.

I’d make him an aggressive financial offer. He’ll end up at Michigan or Ohio State but they need to try.

Speaking of Michigan, must be nice that a 24 year old alum just happens to be fucking Larry Ellison and can now get $10 million on demand for any player they want.

Seems like a strategy others could look into. There are lots of beautiful young alums and horny multi-billionaires out there.
